I think it would be interesting to have some element of sports in Civ. They are a huge part of people's lives and have been since the ancient Olympics. Does anyone think it could or should be in a future Civ game and have any ideas on how it might work? :undecide:
Oops, sorry about the double thread how do you lock it?
I feel so stupid :hammer2: :wallbash:

You could have an "Olympic Games" small wonder for every Civ or "Olympic Stadium". It might be possible to choose a national past-time and then build a city improvement or two based on it - perhaps spread in the same way as religions (talent scouts instead of missionaries).
Maybe each civilization or leader can have a national sport. For example, England has 3 leaders - for Elizabeth it could be Bowls echoing Sir Francis Drake refusing to give up his game to fight the Armada, Victoria it could be Rugby, Winston Churchill it could be Soccer. They could then build stadia and national stadia for extra culture or revenue. Plus 1 gold per city which has the national sport?
Most sports were developed to help train men for way - look at the events in the early Olympics. Early Sport buildings could give an experience point to archery or melee units.

I do agree that especially in our current culture, things like CD-roms, the Internet, Sports, Sattelite Television, just don't seem to be modeled too well in terms of the game.
Superbowl floating from city to city each turn in the late game would be cool.
