A French translation mistake in Civilization IV.
In the sentences the game say at the beginning of a game.

In French the verb “take” is “prendre” but there is a mistake: it is “perdre” witch means “lost”!!! That’s better, no? :lol:

Not really, in the sentence they seems to refers to the risks. So "les prendre" is refering to take the risks. The sentence is just not properly constructed.

I beleive the English text (from memory) is: Sending out settlers, galleys or transports without escort is a big risks…Make sure you are willing to take them.

As such, the French translation, tho a little clumsy, is certainly more accurate with "prendre" then "Perdre".

It's not word for word but a good translation captures the meaning of the text and doesn't need to mimick the original in every sense.

I've never had a problem with the text.. on prend des risques.. voulez vous vraiment prendre la risque?

It's a case of "Do you really want to lose them" vs "Do you really want to take them (the risks)". I think the second is more appropriate..

I'd say 'prendre' is more correct. But the thread starter said the computer said 'perdre' but in his post, it's 'prendre' or did he change it? I'm confused.
