Because I did, and now I cannot launch Civ IV at all.
Specifically, I downloaded Blue Marble terrain and scaling utilities, unpacked and installed them both, launched them, and selected LowRes on Blue Marble Terrain and Blue Marble Defaults on the Scaling utility.
Could not launch Civ IV afterwards, I get an odd flashing halftone pattern on my screen.
Went back into both utilities and set them back to Original Settings.
Same thing, my Civ IV is fubar. Next I'll uninstall everything and reinstall from scratch. But these utilities look really useful and I'd like to try them out.
Any suggestions?
System: AMD Athlon XP2200+ (1.8Ghz), 1 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce FX 5700LE 128 MB, 1280 X 1024 (32 bit), DirectX 9.0C (4.09.0000.0904)
An older system I know, but it has been running Civ IV just fine until the utilities install.
EDIT: Well, I finally got it to work, although it doesn't look any different to me! I had to reboot and restart the game several times, at last the Blue Marble logo was present on the login screen. I thought it would look signifigantly different - I really cannot see any difference at all *shrug*.
