I am searching for our Ladder MP Maps on Europe or World Base.

Is there a Map for this? I downloaded one fo our forum, but it wasn't working for Multiplayer...

Cheers

Greetings.
I just finished editing an old multiplayer map for warlords. It's 106x56 with 18 civs. I still consider Rhye's map the gold standard, but I wanted something more playable. This map is smaller than Rhye's (106x56), has smaller continents (less land mass=fewer cites=fewer animations=less lag/better performance) and probably 3/4 the resources (with their power hungry animations and graphics).
As a smaller map it naturally lacks some of the resolution, especially in Europe, but it's still a very well done map. I'm not sure who originally made the clean map, but I've seen several versions floating around in these download sections, so whoever deserves credit feel free to take it...
I also consider a smaller map more playable because when you get a lot of cities on the larger maps, you start teching every 1-4 turns, which is my Civ pet peave... by the time someone gets their army to the enemy, he's advanced to the next military tech allready.
I've tried to balance the map based on my Earth gaming experience. It will never be perfectly balanced of course, but here's a summary of the recent warlords changes:
In Europe (somewhat smaller than Rhye's) I essentially replaced the Spanish, French, and Germans with Carthage, Celts, and Vikings in their respective locations. This gives most of Europe a more pre-1000 AD feel, and all the mainland civs have ancient special units that can participate in the fighting. The celts, while they lack the Creative attribute of LouisXIV, have a nice feature in their walls which gives guerrilla I. With a Barracks the Gallic Warriors will have Guerilla II which could make them a lot of fun to use to harass the economies of the surrounding nations... while not so effective on the plains, very hard to root them out of any hill they hunker down on with a +75% defense on bare hills, and double move in the hills. However, those who still miss Spain, France, or Germany may enjoy playing elsewhere on this map...
I put Zulu's down where they belong... should make Africa a much more happening place now. They'll be fun to play against Egypt and they can fly through the big jungle there. Their starting city does'nt have much resources but they've got lots of good land to spread out in.
In warlords the Incas are improved, and despite their weak starting spot if they can slip around the Andes and subdue the barbs they have the best upside. With the new patch Aztec start Woodsman I and might be fun to play in the amazon. I also made the Mongols a barb nation and placed the koreans on their peninsula instead. This is an interesting place... all 3 Far East powers have the protective trait now. Only thing is that if either Korea or China quickly subdue the other then they have the whole East Asia to themselves, with the japanese hedged in on their island. There is also still a big black hole down in Malaysia, Australia, and the South Pacific. To help with these two issues I've thinned the resources a bit in those areas and set up a couple strong barb cities in Mongolia and Malaysia, respectively. In addition, as both China and Korea as well as Japan are all protective it ironically also helps balance the power and hopefully keep one of them from running away with the game early on...
Other warlords comments... Malinese, Vikings, English and Carthage are financial, very handy in their spots... While the vikings land is mediocre, with their berserkers then can wreak havoc all the way from the mediterranean to the coastlines of the Americas. In fact, the vikings and English can sail galleys through Iceland to America... So the Americans will have to watch their back while trying to subdue a continent thriving with wild animals and restless natives. In fact, if Washington, Aztec, or Inca dont' hurry and defeat the barbs and settle their rich lands they will themselves become the backwards natives for English, Viking, Carthaginian, or Malinese invaders looking to escape their crowded continents.
Otherwise the only missing civs are Arabia and Ottoman. Even with the new patch you still can't have more than 18 civs without a mod (If anyone knows a way around I would be appreciative) and there are allready plenty of civs competing with the persians for the middle east.
Finally I've switched all civs to monarch difficulty by default.. I use monarch in the online games I host and this way hotjoiners don't get an advantage when they join... So if you want to give yourself a handicap choose a difficulty setting higher than Monarch. Monarch slows down teching a bit and brings out the flavour more of advantages like Org/Exp/Chm.
Like I said at the start, I consider Rhye's and variations of it the gold standard, and so purists and historical snobs (hehe) may find flaws with some of the details of this map, but it's still a well-done map and it meets my main goal of finding a more playable map for online multiplayer gaming. I'd like to even see this map used for ladder, so anyone is welcome to suggest tweaks or post their own modified version.
I loaded every Civ I had altered, but if anyone finds a bug please feel free to post a corrected version.
