I see all these posts regarding true starting locations for civs and just wanted to know how many people prefer to play these types of maps over the random maps.

I for one prefer to play random (or other user created maps) where I do not know the lay of the land or location of resources. I figure that the lack of knowledge of resources greatly enhances the game.

I always play random map. Usually with little water, since I don't like using boats.

I like being able to choose from all the options. I generally prefer random maps, but sometimes I am in mood for world maps or user created maps.

I prefer random maps + random age & climate & water/land ratio;
along with random opponets.
