OK... after downloading the latest 2.08 patch... I am having some problems which I can combine under three bullet points.

1 - When I enter the options (advanced - options) I do not see some of the script... I just see boxes - for example in the graphics screen, I can properly see the explanation for resolution settings, no animations, no effects etc... but I do not see the writing next to the box that is supposed to say low texture resolutions.. its just empty, the box is the only thing there.

2 - In the game, when you enter the city screen, next to your city name comes the amount of city defense right? no, not in mine... it says TXT_CITY_DEFENSE or something like that... The same is with worker actions... Specifying how many turns the worker has left to finish the job and for what is always i TXT_blah blah format

3 - I can no longer tell my workers to put a road between two of my cities.. I have to road a tile... command my worker to move to the next and road that tile and so on. Therefore, that little advanced worker option (box) with a stretching road sign is missing....

The first two I can deal with but the third is really annoying.

P.S: Also, it used to be that the more I zoomed in the bigger the texts get. Now it is vice versa... The text for the city information and what is being built is also smaller now.; it is eskewed for some reasons. The screen where you select your civilization adn its leader is also a alittle askewed, boxes do not cover the leaderhead, the definition for the leader does not fit in the box at the bottom etc.

All help appreciated

Maybe it's the cache. When starting civ, during the "init" screen, does it say "cached"? Either hold Shift key during startup to bypass cache, or erase the cache folder, somewhere here: C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\My Games\Warlords\cache.

If this won't help, have you been using any (inofficial) mods, or perhaps attempted modding yourself? Have you messed up something and the patching made the mess even worse? If so, uninstall, manually erase all warlords folders, reinstall, repatch.

There is not even a cache folder in the place that you've specified.
I remember people having the same problem and posting it online a couple of months ago... searched for it but couldnt find it. All help is very appreciated.
Any other suggestions?

the cache folder might be hidden, perhaps verify that again with "show hidden files" checked...
