Ok, I admit it. Im a Total war Noob (except for RTW that I bought about 3 weeks ago). Laugh at me, throw tomatoes, whatever. But please, awner my questions

1. Colonies

Does anyone know how colonies will be handled in this game

2. Cities/Castles

How do I build these?

3. Crusades

My friend had MTW and he said something about Crusades. How do you do thim

You can't build cities in TW games. They are automatically on the map. I don't know the rest, computer can't run MTW:2. :cry:

1. Colonies, you need to wait until you can build Carracks, then ship some troops to the West. Capture the Carribean Isles ( to act as a base etc). Basically its not really handled any differently from normal provences.

2. Cities/Castles. These are preplaced (same as RTW) , you can change a Castle into City or vice versa.

3. Crusades, I don't actually have any experiance of calling these yet, or joining them either (I was always excommunicated at the time, heck I had crusade CALLED on me). But from what I gather, you need to have a high standing with the Pope, then click on the pope tab, ask for a crusade and there you go. Still not sure how to join armies to them...

Joining a crusade is easy. When a pope calls for a crusade, you have to join within 9 Rounds. You need a general and 8 other units for joining, then there appears a button to join the crusade.
After joining special units can be bought.
Other factions may also join the crusade. So there will be a race to be the first to reach the city.

And to the city/castle question: Cities can always be altered to castles. But not the other way round. At a specific expansion stage a castle can't be altered to a city, if i remember correctly.

You capture fixed land masses via cities. (i,e Capture London and gain control over a certain portion of England which has access to specific resourses)

How do I build these?


You can only build FORTS and WATCHTOWERS on the map, Can be done via a general. Cities are upgraded via population growth and techtree for fortifcations is based on Population and not technology.



3. Crusades
My friend had MTW and he said something about Crusades. How do you do them

MTW1 IIRC you PAY a sum and start a crusade. Create an army and march though Christain terroritory to have units join your army.
MTW2 though Only popes can declare crusades though though diplomacy you can influence this process.
