View Full Version : ** SPOILER ** Calis' point of view in the CIV team PBEM
Calis Nov 28, 2006, 12:47 AM Now, if everybody does, I also will start such a spoiler thread, but will begin to put in some info within the next 2 days!
So please have some patience.
The only thing I can say now is that I have "won" the Spanish civilization!
lost_civantares Nov 30, 2006, 05:24 PM We're waiting patiently... :p
Calis Dec 04, 2006, 03:54 AM I am sorry for letting you guys wait, but currently i have a severe lack of time...
I appreciate your patience...
I think you already know that Chamnix and I already met in the game. Right in the middle between us is a source of gems....
Calis Dec 06, 2006, 12:13 PM Back again!
Finally I have the time to post a little bit...
Here she is: Isabella!

Isn't she cute? Well, my favorite so far in civIV was Catherine, but so what. It's the Spanish queen now...
Let's see what we can achieve with her...
Calis Dec 06, 2006, 12:16 PM Here's the starting spot:
http://gans-schaf.de/grafik/frank/civIV pic1.jpg
I just built Madrid on the spot, as I didn't want to waste time with looking for a better spot...I like the flood plains for quick growth
I drew my warrior just onto the hills northwest of their starting position...and what did I see? A goody hut right to the east and a source of gems in the north...
And now for my first big mistake...I didn't put on the research :(
RegentMan Dec 06, 2006, 12:39 PM I think the beakers still accumilate, unlike in [c3c] .
Kick some arse, Calis! :hammer:
Calis Dec 07, 2006, 04:41 AM Kick some arse, Calis! :hammer:
As you kicked mine in our PBEM game? ;)
I didn't play [civ4] for several months, so I have to get used to it again...I recognized that during the first few turns.
I hope the mistakes I made are not too severe for the rest of the game. :wallbash:
RegentMan Dec 07, 2006, 10:32 AM As you kicked mine in our PBEM game? ;)
Well, I had to defend myself... ;)
If I had some extra regenthorses, I'd gift them to you.
Calis Jan 29, 2007, 01:06 PM Well, I think I have to do something here. As the game is becoming interesting now, I'll try to post more regularly...
I think that all people who are interested in the game already know that Chamnix and I met very early in the game. In some Email traffic he expressed the wish for a peaceful co-operation. As I do not know him very well, I am not sure whether this was honestly.
Well, first of all here are some pictures:
1. The view of the world as I can see it now:
I already discovered many nice resources, as you can see. The race for them will start soon.

2. My cityscreen:
Due to the corn and floodplains, I decided to let Madrid grow to size 5 before starting to build my settlers. Now I can build them in 10 turns. First I will complete another worker and then the settlers will come.

3. One picture north of Madrid. I placed a green spot where I think I should create my next city, as Chamnix is quite near to the northeast and I don't want him to take away the silks and gems.

4. The other picture south of Madrid. Here we have some silver and more impotantly marble. And in the water nearby there are crabs. Now the question is, where to build a city here. I made two spots here...the one in the west would allow me to connect the marble early. The one more east would after some culture expanding allow me to build a workboat and connect the crabs. But I think the latter alternative is not too good, as I have to wait for the crab AND the marble and actually the marble is vital for the game:

I am looking forward to getting comments and/or questions and/or hints.
I have to admit that I am not such a pro with CIV, so some hints would be appreciated.
RegentMan Jan 29, 2007, 07:44 PM I like your northern site, as it won't bump into his borders after expansions. Plus, it opens up the desert in the east for a nice site to grab the copper.
Regarding the south, I like the marble city site better. While not vital, marble is nice to have, and you'll survive without the health. Plus, you could plant a city NE of the southern site on the grassland poking out.
Chamnix, from what I've seen, is an honorable player, so you might want to make nice with him. But use your instincts and look out for your best interests. A good ally is very convienent.
Calis Feb 12, 2007, 04:04 AM It's over already...
Chamnix has put a city right on the copper next to my borders, upgraded a warriot to axemen and now I am history...
I should have killed his warriors and settler when I saw them comming but I am too nice for this world ;-)
Shame on me...
But I am going to improve in the second game...
RegentMan Feb 13, 2007, 12:12 AM :(
Poor Calis.
