View Full Version : Custom Rules. classical_hero Dec 04, 2006, 05:17 AM We need to talk about the potential custom rules that they might have, such as moving Map trading to say Astronomy or Map Making, and the such. gbno1fan Dec 04, 2006, 09:05 AM I support moving Map trading to Map Making and Writing (a Civ must have both techs in order to trade a map). What are some more of the custom rule changes? Chamnix Dec 04, 2006, 09:05 AM Well, I think the map issue has basically been decided already – map trading at Map Making, verbal directions anytime, contact trading at Writing. Personally, I would have preferred no directions until map trading, but it’s not a big issue to me. If anyone is strongly opposed to the decision, they better speak up very soon. Contact trading at Writing can’t be bad for us – the only thing that could do that I can think of is speed up the tech pace earlier which is good for the Ottomans. Fe3333au’s proposal of starting units is interesting, but it will depend on how it is done. If teams have the option of an extra settler, then I think it gives way too large an advantage to the agricultural civs in the early game. If teams just get an extra warrior, then it works to our advantage (speeds the tech pace). If there are significant units given, then we also have to give extra gold to pay unit support. Overall, I think I’m opposed to the idea, but I’ll wait for more comments from others before I say anything. I just saw Whomp's post - looks like he came to the same conclusion... Elear Dec 04, 2006, 09:13 AM Yeah, same. I replied saying how extra units would create too much power among agricultural/industrious civs. Yes, we are industrious, but I'd like to keep this fair as we can. :mischief: It seems wrong to support extra worker just because we have the industrious trait. -Elear dutchfire Dec 04, 2006, 09:24 AM Keep things simple, this game shouldn't have to rely on "sexy" settings to get activity IMO. GreyBeard Dec 04, 2006, 12:49 PM I'm for a normal start. No extra goodies. greekguy Dec 04, 2006, 01:46 PM agree with dutchfire and GreyBeard. no need to start the game with extra units. seems like some teams are trying to take advantage of their traits at the expense of the rest of us. :mischief: Chamnix Dec 04, 2006, 02:03 PM The funny is that it was suggested by the Koreans :hmm:. greekguy Dec 04, 2006, 02:12 PM The funny is that it was suggested by the Koreans :hmm:. they want to lose? so cocky they are trying to handicap themselves to make game harder? want to make game more "sexy"(most likely)? Elear Dec 04, 2006, 02:14 PM Then again, they are the same ones who we think are trying not to be like MIA ;) Weird! classical_hero Dec 05, 2006, 02:59 AM Actually we want to be similar to MIA since they/we won the las game, which is the objective of this game. |
