I have several questions about civ4.

1. Why we can't see batlle between two Al civs? We can see only final result.
2. How I can change civs colours, civ names and liders names like in civ3?
3. In some parts of the game I cannot sign defensive pact with some civs. I can't understand why?
4. In victory condition screen we have spaceships screen. Which is his role.

Thanks!

3. A number of possible reasons. Have defensive pacts been enabled yet? Are either yourself or the civ you are trying to form a defensive pact with currently fighting a war?

4. For the space race victory.

Same reason you can't see the entire map revealed at the beginning of the game. You aren't there and thus do not have that info. The game tries to hold to the realism of "fog of war". In other words, you aren't some giant head hovering over the world map ;)

With regards to if you're there, but want to watch the battle, that's likely just the game team slimming down the NPC moves to help processing time. The game could bog down quite a bit if running full animations for everyone. That's my theory anyways.

Defensive pacts is enabled, it is 2000 year, and I am in peace with them but I don't have this options. With the other civs I can sign a pact. Couple of them don't want this but I have this option (red coloured).

4. For the space race victory.

I understand but spaceship screen is completly changelles during all game.

Of course, but I want to see how my Al allies destroy crazy aggressor around my cityes. :)

I understand, but I don't think all Al moves. I think that you have need see battle around yours cityes or yours visible range.

1. There is a setting in the game options screen that allows you to see the AI fighting. Actually 2 options: Animate Friend Moves and Animate Enemy Moves. These will only show moves in normally visible squares though.

2. I know there is a substantial modding community on this site here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=158) that might be able to answer your question about changing colors. Civ names can be changed either at startup by clicking the button on the far right of your listing or in game by choosing the Your Details menu. City Names can be changed when you found or capture the city. I think you can rename them afterwards as well but have never tried this. I also think you can change the names of individual units by clicking on their description.

3. The requirements for forming a defensive pact are:
a. Research Military Tradition
b. Neither you nor your target can currently be in a war
c. They have to like you (at least Pleased and probably Friendly).
After you research Fascism or Communism, you can form Permanent Alliances which can be formed during war but you have to have a certain number of turns with either a Defensive Pact or mutual military struggle before they will accept.

4. The spaceship will not change until late in the game when someone starts researching the necessary techs. I always turn that victory condition off, though, so I don't know much about how it works.

But even if you choose those options you don't actually see the combat... you only see who is left after it. On the rare occasions (all too rare) that AI civs declare war on each other, I like to open up World Builder and drop a few spies in strategic spots to see the invading armies and how they are countered. Sadly, we don't get to see the actual battles.

2. I know, but you can’t change rivals lider names. Only can change your details. It’s stupid.

3. It’s posibly. Although I am in peace with them I am not in good relations with my neighbourhoods. Maybe your in right.

I just speak about this. It’s one of the rare but big Firaxis mistake.

Hmm, actually it makes sense. In a single player game, when I meet Genghis, then why would I want to name him Lilly? And in multiplayer the feature would have to be taken out anyway - imagine 8 players continuously renaming each other ... ;)

You can do this, but it requires an actual mod. You can't do it within the game.

In one of my cityes I have 102 total production points. When I want to built recicling center (need 450 production points) I must wait 6 turns. It’s completly incomprehensible. Maybe it’s bug but I am install all need patches 1.09, 1.52 and 1.61.

I have a couple of friends who is pleased and frendly with me but I haven’t defensive pact and permanent alliance options. But also with them I haven’t red coloured options. It’s 2080 year. I don’t understand why?

Can I have influence on inflation rate or it standard growing during the game?
Same question for handicap cost?
