Hello all i have been wonder what i am doing wrong i seam not to bee able to break the monarch lvl i play warlords not patched continents somtimes pangea normal settings random civ.I only won once on monarch but that was a small pangea map,last time i paly as Agustus Ceasar on continents i got lots of resources and researched iron working early worked the resourses first then build mines farms and cottages maneged to take out Isabella early but Montyzuma also declared war on Isabella and took some cities.After the war Monty was a little bigger then me i was a little bit before him in tech but Gandh who also was on this continent was way before both in size and tech could not understand how that happened since i took out Isabella pretty fast?
Anyway i thought i should attack Monty after i got knight and my economy was back on feet after the war got knights and monty had not build up a decent army and attacked first all went well i took 1 city pretty fast but after that he counterattacked with lots of elefants that killed some of my knights he almost took back hat city so i sued for peace attacked again 10 times later but by then he had knights and also trebuchets he had much more troops then me so we fight for a while in the mean while evrybody else was a mile before me in tech so i quit what did i do wrong?

When you saw that Gandhi was running away, you should have done something against it.
Bribing Montezuma to fight him being a good option.

^^^Agreed. Getting into a war with Monty is never a good idea.

Would've been nice if you could've got/allowed Monty to go to war with Issy while you focused on Gandhi, being a soft target peace-mongerer who would give you lots of techs for peace.

Izzy was not there and gandhi was much stronger then me also far south from me,also i think Gandhi would have crushed Monty he was much bigger and techleader.

What do you mean Issy wasn't there? You said in your OP that Monty declared on her? If Gandhi was far away, I would've tried to have bribed Monty to go after Gandhi leaving you to take on Issy. Going to war with Monty really can drag you down. Alternatively, you could've tagteamed Issy with Monty and then once he's happy with you from sharing a military struggle, you could've bribed him to go after Gandhi, softening up Gandhi, then you could've backstabbed Monty after he's been at war with Gandhi for awhile and then mop up your continent :D

And also that erly i did not have Alphabet so i could not bribe him with techs i went for ironworking and then started to spam Preatorians Izzy only had archers.

But had it been possible it would have been advisable to send Monty off Against Ghandi then backstab Mony as previous poster mentioned.
