Im more a modeller than a texturer or animator and my models are looking for textures and bones.
If I make an UVW map or skelleton its a good one but if you can do your own the better, more time for modelling for me.

Here is a 929 poly Tyrannosaurus and a 554 poly Triceratops.

Thats below average ci4 polycount and with enough detail to open the mouth, bend a finger and close the eyes:
They come in 3ds,max8,nif,dxf and wrl for anyone who wants them.
The triceratops also has an early UVW map of almost only 1 piece (dont use it without finishing it).

I want to use these models and other animals in a civ4 mod, starting with dinosaurs and going to other animals.
The tricky part is to put teamcolors on extinct animals.
Also some good use of fake-bumpmap shadows is needed on such lowpoly models (like around the upper part of every leg).

Perhaps you can persuade C.Roland for the texturers. He already came up with some good ones for other modeler's work.

If you provide the UV map I can texture but I can't animate.

triceratops 7 (620 polys for better front legs) with uvw map

Can you please post the texture in a TGA or DDS format with the model in a NIF format. I do not have 3ds.

Thanks.

Aah right, in all the images I forgot the 2 most obvious files:
here is version8 with some minor fixes in .nif .png .dds

You've mentioned about bump map. I have a question making bump map affects game much? Is it takes much of memory? I didn't made this before
a) cause i don't have enough time,
b) in civ4 it won't be visible even whit maximized zoom - i think you could fix it with shadows painted on the textures,
c) i don't know how it would affect game

Nice models - it's very hard to make natural forms of life - I' making machines and buildings and tried to made organic forms - and i know it's much harder to do that. Good luck with your mod

I did a quick job, I know it's not very detailed but we do not really see model from a close view in civ 4 so tell me if it's fine or if you want it more detailled.

Wow nice! Someone should animate this Triceratops and put a lizardman on its back!:D

I looked into the .nif for the Triceratops to see if I could graft it onto an existing unit for animations, and I noticed that there are no bones!
Without any bones there is no way for this to be an animated civ4 unit.
Any chance you could make a version with the needed bones in it?
(Just look into any of the animals that came with civ for examples of what is needed.)
