Hi All, Season's Greetings :)

Over the years I guess my hearing has slowly diminished a little bit. I never really noticed it until this Christmas when my wife gave me a set of BOSE QuietComfort 3 headphones for my iPod. The acoustic noise canceling is remarkable and makes the music crisp and clear.

Then I plugged them into my Mac and there it was, a whole new world of audio Civ 4 I hadn't heard before. I played a 13 hour game and it was like playing a new version of Civ. I enjoyed the background music, it never got on my nerves or bored me. But the real killer for me was hearing the subtle sounds and noises I had never noticed before during game play.

A tip of the hat to the folks at aspyr for their work on this kind of detail.

Nice! I just got a pair of the QC-2 right before Christmas. Haven't used them with Civ just yet, but they work like magic to cut out extraneous sound.

I think the original work on the sounds and music should be credited to Firaxis/Take2. But Aspyr certainly had to jump through a few hoops to get it to perform as well as it does in OS X.
