This game MUST be played in patch version 1.61. We will NOT accept any games played under any other patch versions, and you can't play it in warlords!

Further, it MUST be played using HOF mod version 1.61.010. (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mods/HOF-1.61.010.exe) (Different release from last month!)

Newbie question here: will installing that HOF mod mean my game cannot run older CiV IV saved games? Anywhere to find more information on what that mod does precisely?

Thanks :)

The HOF mod is completely optional. You have to intentionally load it from the menu, or just double click on the save file which uses it. Since I have down loaded so many HOF versions at this point, I just do the double click on the save file approach.

Hof mod does not effect your old saves. It is not in build mod, and actially most if not all mods in civ are optional.

WOTM is the warlords version. A new one starts in a few days and the preview post just went up for it today. The GOTM are the vanilla version.
