I am new to multiplayer in Civ 4. I had the following questions:
I noticed that multiplayer games go on for a long time. Can I leave the game in between and rejoin at a later stage?
Most of the games listed are not to my liking. If I start a game with my own settings how much time would I normally have to wait before I get say 4 human players to join. Should I advertise on this forum about the game that I am starting?
Can I play multiplayer in Sevo Mode?
What is the pitboss server used for? If I am starting a new game should I use the pitboss server?

If you're willing to have the AI manage your civ for you, sure, but opponents will know it is a civ playing and can take advantage of known AI weaknesses.

It is used to run the central part of the game - a dungeonmaster, if you are familiar with Dungeons&Dragons. Unless you're hosting the game via GameSpy, best would be to set up the pitboss server. See the stickied how-to at the top of the forum for how to get one going.
