The 32 player Pitboss game over at strategamer.com currently has several AI positions that need to be filled by new players.

All AI began as humans who have since left or been kicked out (due to leaving without telling us). The game requires a simple mod to allow 32 players, and the simple instructions are filled out in detail in the threads I will link to presently.

The game is a great deal of fun and the players a bunch of good sports. A while ago I joined an 18 player game with this group in the same circumstance, taking over a civ that had been abandoned by a player for weeks, and it's currently one of the most fun games I'm in.

The thread is here:

For reference, the Civfanatics recruiting/startup thread for this game is http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=186253

I started the new one as in-progress game threads tend to be viewed only by current players of said game.

Come join!

Wow, hope there's still a spot open when I get home from work... looks like a great game!

AluminumKnight, head over to the forum, http://www.strategamer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=36 and claim an AI right now. Post in the "replacement" thread there and you'll be first in line.

You can check Civstats at http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=162 to see the scores and the open slots.

Plus, there's 6 (SIX) AI slots currently available that have good potential. The 3 bottom AI's listed on Civstats, if I recall correctly probably don't have a city to their name (as the game was set up with Require Complete Kills). So they just have a unit or two wandering aimlessly until someone kills it.

But the others are probably quite good candidates to take over. There are a couple of them who are in Wars. So if you really don't want to take one that is at war with someone, you could possibly request on the forum to have someone let you know if anyone is at war with the Civ you want to claim.
Otherwise, just claim whichever one you want if you don't care if you're currently in a war. You can always attempt to negotiate yourself out of said war.

Also, as you can tell by Civstats, we're still relatively early in the game. Most Civs don't have more than 3 or 4 cities at most. And I know some that still only have 2.

I'd recommend against Mali, judging by what I see of his current state. Too bad - he was set up ok to start with.

If you take an AI that's at war you can always try to get peace. Odds are you have several neighbors you can try to tempt on the other player if they won't play nice to the new kid. ;)

Really, having 32 players on the map makes things very interesting.

Agreed. VERY fluid. And I think that some of the people doing some conquering early are going to find larger and larger alliances lining up against them.

It'll be up again soon. Our host is a good one, and just experiencing technical difficulties.

The server is back up for anyone that wants to take over one of the handful of AI slots still available.

There's still 3 viable AI slots open for anyone that wants one though...
