View Full Version : Pilots needed for small Transport Company!
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 04, 2007, 07:13 AM Then why not join www.swcombine.com a free online RPG set in an alternate Star Wars Universe. My transport company is in need of trustworthy pilots and where better place to find dedicated gamers than CFC?
PM me for details.
IronMan2055 Jan 04, 2007, 02:06 PM i tried to join once but it wouldn't let me log in
Maniacal Jan 04, 2007, 05:04 PM Hmm, convince me this is better than 99% of all other online RPGs then I'll join.
EDIT: Also if I can be a pirate, then I will definately join. I'm going to check it our anyways, what have I to lose?
EDIT2: No free e-mail accounts accepted? Dangnamit! That's all I have!
Also talk about strict name creation! I can't use any of my names! Except one, so my char is going to be female.
ARGH! Well, I can't play, I don't have a non-free e-mail. So, yeah, tough. It's probably a lame game anywas.
>_< *sets the site on fire*
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 04, 2007, 07:20 PM PrinceScamp you crack me up  I just barely left the site in time before the big fire! Yes that is one drawback to the game, you need a real email account, one that you pay for. I realize this is not possible for many people.
If you are a student at university the admins of the combine will hear your case and may even allow you to register using a .edu account. Give it a try! You just need to email them and explain your situation.
Yes you can be a pirate as well as join the Eidola Pirates, an organized faction of pirates that definately wreak havoc.
IronMan2055: 90% of the time you are not able to get accepted in registering or not able to log on is because you are not using the right kind of email account. See above. Although you mention that it wouldn't let you log in. Does that mean you had setup an account which was accepted but then you were not able to log in?
What I really find appealing about this game is the sense of community more that the games' features. If you want to feel like you are part of a community set in a space environment then this is the place to be.
If you have any other questions fire away, I'd be happy to tell you more. Btw if you join me I'll give you 30% commission on all jobs you perform as well as a montly salary of 2000 credits!
Maniacal Jan 04, 2007, 07:29 PM Hmm, well, it accepts ISP addresses right? Hmm, does it accept TELUS e-mail accounts? Cause I can get one easily.
Ah, how does the game kind of, run? Real time, turn/action points. The only two browser games I still play are BattleMaster and Cybernations, so i only have to check them once or twice a day.
How many charactors can I make?
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 04, 2007, 08:51 PM Check with the admins to see if you can use TELUS, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that.
The game universe is constantly in motion although the action is not real time per se. For example you issue coordinates to your ship and then hit the accelarator button. From there it takes time for you to travel but while your waiting there are other actions you can conduct. If anything you do affects someone else then they get a chance to do something when they log back in if they are not online at the time.
This game can definately be played by only logging in once or twice a day or once a week. It all depends on what you want to do, but after a while you might get sucked in and long on multiple times a day much like I do here at CFC.
There's no real turn/action points really. But if you are scanning a star system you will not see ships moving in realtime, rather the page gets updated every minute and positions are redrawn. So say it takes 30 minutes to travel 10 squares. You ship will actually move to another square every 3 minutes. The same goes for vehicles, foot movement, etc.
You're only allowed to create one character. The Combine is real strict about this because it's too easy to make lots of money if one was allowed to have more than one character.
GoodEnoughForMe Jan 04, 2007, 10:03 PM Damn email accounts!!!!!!!!! :(
Maniacal Jan 05, 2007, 01:24 AM We only use your registration email once to send you your inital password, after that you can change it to any address you wish.
Just to double check, so after I activate my account, I can change it to my hotmail address?
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 05, 2007, 10:07 PM Yes that's right PrinceScamp. That's exactly what I did. I use the combines free email service now instead of my real email address and haven't had any problems now for 3 years.
Maniacal Jan 05, 2007, 10:54 PM The combine has their own e-mail service?
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 06, 2007, 09:52 AM They sure do. If you go to the community section and then look for holomail on the right hand side of the screen you will be taken to their email provider. It's free!
Maniacal Jan 06, 2007, 01:12 PM Can you use it to join up?
(I meant to try the TELUS one yesterday but forgot, I'll do it tis afternoon).

Unfortunately no. I tried but that didn't work for me. So I just gave my real email address and then once I was accepted immediately changed over to the combine's email or holomail as they call it.
IronMan2055 Jan 06, 2007, 07:00 PM Does that mean you had setup an account which was accepted but then you were not able to log in?
yep *insert 10 char thing here*
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 07, 2007, 02:09 PM yep *insert 10 char thing here*
That's weird. Did you ever contact the admins?
IronMan2055 Jan 07, 2007, 05:41 PM no, it was something like whateva i'll find a different mmorpg.
Shawnosaurus Jan 09, 2007, 10:54 AM Well, I managed to get in and am creating a character. I think I am going to go with a Corellian Explorer. My name is Shawn Miaux, give me a wave if you see me :)
Moff Jerjerrod Jan 09, 2007, 11:02 AM Welcome aboard the combine Shawnosaurus!
Look out for a "DM" from SYT Transport LLC!
