Can anyone explain why me and my friend can't connect with a direct ip connection. We receive the message time has run out to connect. We also have xfire but it doesnt support the simple one click play for civ 4. Both our firewalls have civ 4 on the exempt list. Has anyone else had this problem?

i tried it last night for the first time. we disabled our firewalls(ZA free) and started windows firewall. making sure that Civ4 was on the allowed list. the other player set up the game and i entered his IP and we connected, played the game no problem. except we forgot to add other Civs to the game.

Today I tryed for first time.. and we have the same problem

I have firewall Kaspersky but Civ 4 is in the allowed programs list..

She hasn't firewall

and she can't conect to me and i can't if she is the host :S
