The Colonization of Alpha Centauri is a mod set in a world where the Earth has at last achieved near peace and prosperity and the UN has commissioned an international co-operative mission to colonize the newly explored Alpha Centauri system.
However, on the way there, a group of stowaway revolutionaries who wanted to use this opportunity to create a new, better, Earth. Although their plan to hijack the vessel was unsuccessful, they still managed to assassinate the captain, forcing a crash landing on the nearest planetary body. With contact with Earth lost, the colonial teams of the various nations expanded independently, and there is great tension.

ATM I am drawing up the civs, units building, units etc for this mod. Any suggestions or ideas would be very welcome. Also if you would like to help with the mod, please feel free to post here.

I have a few suggestions;

- A different set of civs. You could have "National" civs", representing the colonial teams from Earth, for example, the EU colonial authority, the American Colonial team, The Oceania Colonial Initiative (Australia, Japan and other pacific nations),etc. You could also have "New" civs, which are factions created by people who were alienated during the voyage from their respective colonial teams, for different reasons. They saw the hijack and crash landing as an ideal opportunity to declare themselves independant. These civs could be centered around a certain ideology, some examples; A Communist/socialist civ, a Neofasicst civ.Or they could just be "stubborn colonists who want to be free from those meddling old earth nations". The revolutionaries would probably fall in this category. You may want to throw in a few fictional Corporations as civs.
As for native life, you could have SMAC style Xenofungi/brainworms, or semi-humanoid cave men.

As for religions, you could, like the different factions, have a distinction between "old" earth religions and "New" religions/philosophies developed by the colonists.

Sadly ATM it's guy, not guys, but your mod looks good. Maybe I should rename this the Colonization of Beta Centauri to avoid people associating it with SMAC ;)

Colonize Epsilon Eridani instead... it has at least one confirmed planet IRL, and is "only" 7 light years further out. ;)
