I'm new to serious modding - I've played around with the XMLs but that's about it. I'm studying for a degree in Software Engineering too, so hope to acquire the skills to make some heavy duty mods in the future. In the mean time, if anyone could point me in the direction of a few mods (if they exist), I'd much appreciate it;

1. A mod that replaces the CIV IV methods for air units with the old CIV and CIV II method (i.e. air units are moveable units that will crash if left out for too long, as opposed to simply being static units that are sent on "missions").

2. A mod that changes nukes from having unlimited range back to the old method of mounting them on subs. Likewise a mod that uses cruise missiles.

Basically, I'm Old Skool, and am looking for the best of both worlds between CIV II and CIV IV.

I should stress that I do not have Warlords, just v1.61.
If such mods exist I'd appreciate some help!

Okay, so I only just read the forum rule saying not to post non-file posts here. I apologise, but there's nothing I can really do about it now.

This (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171813&highlight=Air+Domain) might be the thing you're looking for. Which, oddly enough, has incorporated the other thing you're looking for.

Beware. It's not up to date with the current version of Warlords.

BJTB: I'm also studying CS, I've been able to do quite a lot of moding using just my first year of education which was basicaly just having a firm grasp of C++ and basic Datastructure. Python is realy only nessary if you want to mod the UI and if you know C++ the syntax is realy the only hurdle. Learning the style and structure of Civ4 code comes with time and allows you to mod faster and easier.

Thanks for the advice. From what I can see, this mod does most of what I want with the exception that aircraft don't crash, they just act like land and sea units at the end of each turn. Not a problem in itself, but requires an honour system in its use.

Thanks for the help!

I'd have to say in the case of the future, switch to Warlords and then go from there, i know thats a personal opinion but thats the way of the future, why go backwards when forward is already there, thats just me, ok. I dont even play any vanilla games anymore. Again just a personal thing i guess, take it as you may.
