View Full Version : Grim Fandango
Hitti-Litti Jan 06, 2007, 10:38 AM Have any of you played this amazing, greatly done adventure game? I'd like to hear your opinions of it too. I have played it through few times, but now I'm going to start it from the beginning, again.
Absolutely great game, and marvelous music.
Maniacal Jan 06, 2007, 01:14 PM Never heard of it. LINKY!

I think I'll pass, I'm not fond of skull faces.
Chukchi Husky Jan 06, 2007, 02:33 PM I have it, but never got far.
Hitti-Litti Jan 06, 2007, 02:38 PM To PrinceScamp: Skull faces don't matter. If you're interested in solving puzzles in an adventure game, this is for you. You can always load the demo.
To Chuckchi Husky: I have never gone through it without walkthrough. The game is an experience, the second year is the best.

Yes, i have played it, yes, it amazing and yes, the score is excellent! :)
I haven't finished it, though. The puzzles are quite tricky and i got stuck somewhere. In my opinion, it is one of the last great adventures, along with Discworld Noir.
Hitti-Litti Jan 06, 2007, 03:04 PM Like I said in post 3, I have never got through it without walkthrough.
One of the best quotes:
Glottis: We will soar like eagles... ON POGO-STICKS!!!
Underseer Jan 06, 2007, 11:00 PM I've heard nothing but good things about this game, but I have yet to try it for myself.
Jabberdau Jan 07, 2007, 02:36 AM Best adventure game period. Yes its better than Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight...
But most casual players turned it down due to the controls. What a shame. Soundtrack can be downloaded from here (http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/)

IronMan2055 Jan 07, 2007, 12:06 PM i've never played this game but what i've heard is the same as underseer
Sir_Lancelot Jan 07, 2007, 11:26 PM I tried it several years ago. I never got attached to it and didn't like it so much. Perhaps it's because I didn't have time and opportunity to actually play it. My opinions are based on the first impression.
t0mme Jan 09, 2007, 04:02 AM Oh yes! This game is so incredibly good. It's actually the only adventure-game I finished without a walkthrough, but it still took two weeks of solid devotion.
And the best thing about this game is, without a doubt, the voice acting. It's so well done! Especially if your previous adventure game was "flight of the amazon queen" (freeware now) which has, undoubtly, the worst voice acting.
If you like adventure games, you must have played this one. The only negative point is, indeed, the controls, but you'll get the hang of it. Second-best adventure game, period. The best still is Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis.
Bartleby Jan 09, 2007, 06:03 AM I enjoyed it, but I had to get a few clues from the internet. I think I'll have another go. :)
Kan' Sharuminar Jan 09, 2007, 06:18 AM I was terrible at such games, though I do own it and Day of the Tentacle. I always feel guilty using walkthroughs, but if I give it another chance then I'll use them. One half of these LucasArts games is the story and humour :D
