View Full Version : V-1 Reprisal Weapon finished!!!

After some days of work, I've completed a new unit for Civ3, a Fieseler Fi-103 Vergeltungswaffe Eins (known as the V-1 rocket).
The animation previews and info is in this thread Unit Preview: V-1 Reprisal Weapon (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19773)

Now available new version2 unit, updated with civilopedia.txt and better images and sounds (thanks nonnog6 and stainz:king: )
See below for the zip file...I removed the older, but now I can't upload the new file here

Version1 removed after 36 downloads

I hope you enjoy it!!!:D

I've planned this unit as a Cruise missile unit(unit abilitie cruise missile), with a shield cost of 6 (same as the default cruise missile), a movement factor of 1 (I try to reflect the slow speed of V-1's...a lot of them were intercepted by Spitfire squadrons or jet fighters Gloster Meteor from the R.A.F.), but a bombard range of 3 (instead of 2), to make sure it can hit objectives far away the home cities.Rate of fire 3(same as the default Cruise missile), and to build the unit, aluminum* and oil is needed. The V-1 is only available to Germany.

*NOTE:The V-1 is a WW2 unit, and the aluminum resource appears with Rocketry (in the modern era).I think that a little modification to the appearance of this resource is needed.I will allow the Flight advance to allow aluminum to appear, because it is needed to build fighters and bombers (and more units) of the WW2 era. It could be more properly.
And to build the V-1 reprisal weapon, we need the Radio advance, instead of rocketry:)

Of course, It's my suggestion, you can do what you prefer :D

And there's the default animation (for those who would like to see the unit without to go to the preview thread;))

PS. Given your name are we gonna be seeing a Stuka soon? The sound for the attack.flc would be outrageous! :)

I think I haven't yet the experience to make a Stuka, but...It could be awesome if someone would create it ;)...Of course, I'll try to help him/her in the documentation, sounds (Yes!!I have a Stuka attack sound, taken from the Red Front scenario fro Civ2, made by Captain Nemo...it sounds GOOD!!)
Thanks:D

stainz, thanks for the new sound.I'm working on it, to make it less large (23 seconds!!!:crazyeye: ), but it's very good. It is a V-1 sound??it sounds like a B-17 or B-24 heavy bomber:cool: jeje.thanks again!!! I'll update the zip now;)

One question, nonnob3...why you use 2 nicks(nonnob3, nonnog6)???;)

It is the "actual" sound that the V-1 made. I searched long and hard for that sound and out of the 1000 or so pgs. i viewed about the V-1, there are only a limited few with sound. There are however, a lot of animations for the rocket as well as the V-2.

My understanding is; it was the way they set it up fuel/air mixture that made it sound the way it did. Or at least that,s the way i understood it. But i could be wrong.

Very nice indeed !!! Been waiting for this moment :) :) :)

looks quite cool in game (I have it running alongside with German Stormtroopers, Panters, and Tigers- and, of course, the Bismarck:king:)

Hey, how about a "nebelwerfer" unit (i.e a German WWII halftrack with 3 rocketlaunchers on each side- see sudden strike)
- without the rockets it could become an apc, with a turret it'd be a mech infantry or a heavy apc !!!

Thanx for another great unit !!!!!!!! :D

Pablostuka
Apr 11, 2002, 05:54 PM
It's a good idea the nebelwerfer. To begin the work, maybe it's better to create a Sdkfz.250/251 troop transport, and later add the rocket launchers...but...I think that Kentonio is better than me to do this work ;)...I'm very newbie!!
I'm thinking about my next unit...I don't know exactly what to do ;), but I'm sure it will be a german WW2 unit, of course:p

Hmmm, i ve been wondering- is there a thread that explains how to create such units- i.e how 2 ripp them and work with polygons??? I did some civ 2 scenarios but never went on to do stuff in 3D... once I get some good info (and time :crazyeye: ) I 'd like to do these myself :p

Actually non of these are done in 3D except for units created by BlueO who uses Lightwave and the Fencer by Pesoloco. All we did is do it in 2D then later use copy & paste then edit. You can learn to do it also if you read the tutorial by me. ;)

GREAT!!!I know...Kentonio is the MASTER creating ground vehicles...:)Great work:goodjob:
To nonnob3: I'm sure there is a Bf-109 in one thread, but I can't remember what it is. But I'm thinking seriously to make a Heinkel He-111 bomber:D .Now I'm searching for documentation and images to begin my work :). And one suggestion: If yoy want to create a german "bazooka" unit, It is called "Panzershreck", a 2 men team (one gunner and one loader), designed for tank ambushing. The "Panzergrenadieres" were assault troops, who used to destroy tanks the "Granatwerfer"(a single-shoot weapon), but they also used more weaponry, like the MG-34, MP-40 and Mauser rifles:). Remember to remove the nazi flag in their arms ;);).
To W.i.n.t.e.r: There were a lot of versions of the Sdkfz-250/251...nebelwerfer, mortar halftrack, troop transport, tank hunter (with a Pak-40 75mm gun), and light panzer. I think this unit were the "battle horse" of Germany:king:

Pablostuka
Apr 12, 2002, 01:39 PM
I see Kentonio's unit isn't a nebelwerfer in a Sdkfz-250/251:)
His unit is a Panzerwerfer 42, based in the Opel Maultier halftrack, with the nebelwerfer rocket launcher:goodjob:
Here is a picture of this vehicle (a model vehicle)

WOW, very resourcefull indeed !!! How many units R U working on at a time ?!?!?! seems U always got something up your sleeve *pureawe*

This is quite good, actually- it needs 2 be bigger in proportion, though- it is the late 44-45 version ("Panzerwerfer"), the earlier designs were not as sofisicated but had the missiles, and later tubes by the sides.

Ive currently made default flcs for about a dozen WW2 units. Trouble is finding the time and energy to do the hard work and make the attack.flc's, run.flc's and death.flc's :)

It's wrong. It should be called Bf109E (F,or G)
Thats how I know that it is called........
Anyways thanks for telling about this site:)

Pablostuka
Apr 12, 2002, 04:38 PM
Yes, It should be called Bf (from Bavarischen Flugzeugwerken...i hope it's written ok), but Me-109 it's ok too (Me, from Messerschmitt, the designer). And the version E, F, G...etc, depends of the year of service, but the 109 posted in that page I can't see what version is...I think that isn't a Bf-109E, because it have not the caracteristic yellow nose ;)
Try to download the Bf-110, it's a very good work!

Messerschmitt later bought out BF, so any model starting with Me-109E should be ME... IMO... although there are a myriad of official sources that contradict each other... a confusing subject...

but i still say its ME

well the Luftwaffe used both designations (Me and Bf) for describing air units in their official records, so you can't say its WRONG :P

Still think it should be Me-109 and Me-110 (see previous post)

Pablostuka
Apr 16, 2002, 08:48 AM
But the early airplanes of Luftwaffe built by Messerschmitt had the designation Bf, from the factory where they were built (Bavarischen Flugzeugwerken)...and these units are a 109 and 110, used in the early years of war (and late too).
The 109 used the Bf designation from the early versions to 'F' (Fiedrich).Versions G (Gustav) and K used Me designation. I think that the 2 designations are correct, and also it isn't very important!!;)
I agree with Jagdpanther:)

You will not find much of Pablostuka's work of this site, we have all moved to the Civilisation Designers Group (CDG) and many units were deleted on Civfanatics. There was a dispute between Moderators and several Designer Communities (I am not going to go on detail on this because it is trivial and something better forgotten)

I am not allowed to post you the direct download link due to CFC forum regulations recently imposed by Thunderfall but I can give you the link to our forum site:
CDG DESIGNER GROUP FORUMS !!! (http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/civ3/index.php)

You can find more Civ3 units in the "Creations" section, as well as in the various "Team Creation" Threads (the V-1 would reside in the Third Reich Team's Thread somewhere).

*So, come by, take a look, enjoy, tell a friend- and perhaps you'd like to join some day ... :)

Ya know what? I think there should be a V2 rocket. It would work like a tactical nuke, but it wouldn't rain nuclear destruction, but would be like a cruise missile or something.
