I just reformatted my hard drive and consequently lost my iPod software that was loaded on it. The iPod came with a CD to install what it needed but I misplaced the CD. I was wondering if there is a place to download version 1.0 that comes on that said CD. I have my iPod's serial number to verify that I have one. I went to the official site, but only sad updates to the software, not the base version. Does anyone know where I can get this? I was going to hook my iPod up to my computer to change some songs but I'm worried it will just take everything off and wait for me to install the software.

plug your ipod into your computer and start up iTunes. You can restore your iPod to factory settings - then use the software updater you mentioned to upgrade to the latest edition of the software. If the iPod starts syncing all the songs first - just cancel it and wait until you are done with the restoring and updating.

Go here (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/) for details from apple:

So wait, you wiped the iPod hard drive? How did you manage to do that? And why?
