View Full Version : IE title bar help.
Chukchi Husky Jan 09, 2007, 11:46 AM On the title bar of Internet Explorer on my computer it has after the name "provided by Wanadoo". It came when I put in a Wanadoo CD over a year ago. I don't use Wanadoo as an ISP. Is there any way to get rid of it?
Don't say something about using another browser. I do use other browsers, I just don't want that message there anymore.
Naked Paladin Jan 09, 2007, 01:54 PM Just because the title bar is named Wanadoo doesn't mean that you are using their ISP service.
The title bar can be customed using either a third-party program or by editting the registry yourself, which I wouldn't suggest if you do not know what you are looking for. You can seriously screw up your computer if you modify something that you shouldn't. Other than that, you can just leave it because it's nothing more than cosmetic.
Chukchi Husky Jan 09, 2007, 01:54 PM What third party programme?
Heretic_Cata Jan 09, 2007, 02:56 PM What is Wanadoo ?
Chukchi Husky Jan 09, 2007, 02:57 PM It was an ISP, but they don't exist anymore.
Heretic_Cata Jan 09, 2007, 03:15 PM Oh, i thought it was some sort of program.
But why did they give a CD ? What's on it ?
Chukchi Husky Jan 09, 2007, 03:17 PM It's one of those free CDs that installs things on your computer so it can use them.
Heretic_Cata Jan 09, 2007, 03:25 PM I didn't know they do that. (it must be an EU thing :mischief:) My provider was probably to cheap to spend money on CDs. :)
Turner Jan 11, 2007, 09:28 PM Happens over here in the US as well.
Not that I need it now (new 'puter) but I'd like to know where that registry entry is anyways.

Turner Jan 11, 2007, 10:10 PM Cool, thanks. I was sure I could google it, but I was also sure if I said what I said someone would do it for me. ;)
Seriously, thanks for the link.

Rheinmetall Jan 18, 2007, 12:00 PM I remember that TweakUI let you change that in 98, but I'm not sure about 2k or XP.
tonyf12 Feb 02, 2007, 01:24 PM If you have a problem in IE, here's the solution, get FF, it's so much better.
kryszcztov Feb 02, 2007, 04:13 PM Wanadoo was France Telecom's former Internet provider. Now they have renamed it Orange, just like their mobile phone branch. And Orange is present in the UK, I saw that first hand when I went to London in December. ;) So I guess Chukchi uses or used Wanadoo/Orange ?

That's not always an acceptable solution.
Not to mention that FF is kludge.
