It seems as if we are short on money for buying much needed alliances and upgrading those warriors. Both these things are extremely important for our survival, being otherwise unprepared for the Babylonian attack as we are. To counter this problem I suggest we change our tax rate to 100% for the time being, since cash is more urgent than doing our own research. Besides, it is cheaper to buy tech than research it ourself anyway. Comments?

We do need money. Have we decided on the Pyramids or the Great Library? That descision impacts what we do with the tax rate. We still have to acquire the tech for the great library one way or another if that is where we are headed. Would hate to be without it should we need it in a pinch!

I'm assuming that 100% tax means no progress at all towards the tech we are researching.

For a civ in the ancient age we are pretty wealthy. We can probably afford two alliances, or we could buy all the techs we do not have, or we could upgrade warriors to immortals. I do not think it would be a good idea to completely eliminate research, as there is still a possibility we will get literature before anyone else, allowing us to trade it for more riches and techs. Giving this up is not worth the couple of extra gold/turn we would get.

Ok, so what about 10 % science and 90 % taxes? I am not suggesting it to be permanent, just until we have bought the alliances we need and upgraded all the warriors we want to.

I think that we are already at 90% taxes.

Ah, in that case forgive my ignorance. All is well. (Since I don´t want to screw my single games up by installing 1.17 I can´t look at the saved game...) :)
