...but that doesn't make me not want to own this. I'd be happy if I could get two processors. But 8?

It's not "crazily" expensive, only insanely expensive! :p

eh, in five years or so two core desktops will only be for the people who just use Freecell and (if they bothered to upgrade) IE 8 at the same time. :p

Wish they showed the clock speed. Make it so much easier
Piednoel admits that it's not exactly cheap, but adds, ""not crazy expensive".

Two quad core CPUs. Complete guess but seeing as this is a show model it would normally be the best the company has to offer. ~$2000 for just the CPUs

Motherboard $500 thankfully they said what it was

RAM is $382 at 1GB dual channel

PSU is $400

Graphics is about $550

$3832 is what it comes to without HD or a case or anything else. Pricey

Currently for most people anything more than dual core is unesecary in a desktop, I can't see any gamer needing 4 little alone 8 cores for several years,

You haven't seen AMD's 4x4, have you?

Performance actually goes up if you run only 1 CPU. Increased memory latency?

The motherboard required kinda makes my 680i look like a budget board.

Using 3DMark, they scored 6089. My score? A pathetic 687. My specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
CPU: AMD Athlon 64, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 3700+ (Only 1! ;))
Graphics card: nVIDIA GeForce 6600 AGP
RAM: 1GB
Sound: Creative SB0410 SB Live! 24-bit Sound Card PCI

Geez, what do I have to do? I've got about 13% of what that super-computer can do. :(
