Where did the other thread go?

Anyway, Apolyton has been down for 36 hours now, let's continue our discussions here...

So, who's here and who's not? I know CoT and Dale are but I'm surprised to see Martin and Ben haven't reported in yet...

Anyway, Ben, re: Wonder Possibilities: I have a copy of SimCity3000, do you know any websites with tools to extract raw data from them? (I admit I haven't looked myself yet, will do so later) Otherwise I could post/send you some screenshots...

To CFC visitors who don't have a clue what this is about: on Apolyton we're making a mod which will make wonders visible on the world map:

Hi Locutus,
yeah i had probs yesterday, so made a visit here - should be our fulltime backup location. I read somewhere that Explorer has a problem(bug) with '.net' websites sometimes? I guess that as it seems poly has been down for everyone(?), then this time it is probably something else to blame - but the odd days when certain people can't get in..... Anyway i'll try poly to see how it's doing:crazyeye:

Hey Locutus and COT. :) Nice to see some of you guys reporting in. :)

Anyways, back to Poly since it's back.

Oh, and PLAY WORLD AT WAR MOD! :borg: :borg:

yall should make CFC your fulltime first location and have broke ass apolyton your back-up hehe, not like CFC is every down for more than 24hours.
I have CTP but my PC is too slowto be able to play it so i won't go crazy.

Hmm, I think the auto-notification feature here is broken or something: I didn't get any emails that people had replied to this thread. Oh well, doesn't matter. Yeah, 'Poly is back now so we can go back too :) It came back up just minutes after I had posted this thread :crazyeye:

CoT, CFC *is* our fulltime backup, except that not everyone knows this :)

Nah, SunTzu, 'Poly may be down more often but on 'Poly we have our own news items, file database, modification section, etc. Not much for us to find here: there's not even a distinction between CtP1 and CtP2 (let alone Creation vs General vs MP)...

Besides, I'm a staff-member on 'Poly and only a lowly poster here :D

Yeah no CTP players here...hopefully apolyton will die out due to a f'ed up forum :) And then CFC will rule supreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mwahahahahaaaaaaaaaa

One day it will happen...Poly will go down and never come back up...

Locutus
Apr 18, 2002, 07:33 PM
Nah, Dell, won't happen. If all else fails, I'll turn my home PC into a server and allow 'Poly to use it...

The problems Apolyton used to have were that it had grown too big for the server (too much traffic), followed by financial problems for the comany running the server. So we temporarily switched to a Greek server. This solved the capicity problem but apparently the power supply in Greece is less reliable than in California: pretty much all the downtime Apolyton had since the server switch was due to power failure :( Once Markos and Dan have found a new server and switched to that, our problems should be solved.

Anyway, Apolyton is down again :(
To the people of 'Poly that are here: I updated the website for Succession Game V with Hermann's and my story and accompanying pictures. You can find them here (http://ctpmodmakers.250free.com/Succession_Games/team1_2.html), as usual. CFC people or others not familiar with our succession games are of course also more than welcome to read and enjoy (but in that case it might an idea to start at page 1 (http://ctpmodmakers.250free.com/Succession_Games/team1.html))...

Evening/morning!
Poly Refugees united!

Locutus,
I can understand if Apolytons probs are due to power - had the same problem in Cyprus a few years ago, had to use our own power-supply to keep things going. Most people had solar panels on their houses, i guess for such a time as when their national grid packed in(about twice daily during bad times!).

Dale,
Good luck with the bug hunt:scan:

Poly is down yet again...is it really because Greek power supply sucks or twas it my doing? mwhahaaahahaahewww:p

I must disapoint you SunTzu Marcos found a new server, and that is pritty fast. Now Netscape 4.5 works on Apolyton pritty fine and here on Civfanatics Netscape 4.5 can't display the pages properly, is slow and I can't post with it so I use Opera now. And there is another reason why Civfanatics can't be supreme, sorry SunTzu: There is no CTP1/2 database that is a part that every real civ side needs to claim to be the ultimative one. So it has just the status of a back up page, and we will see much we need it.

Anything wrong with Poly? Or more to the point:

What's the new address? It hasn't reached our DNS yet. :(

Locutus

Dale,
That problem should be resolved very shortly, it's been over 48h. Until then, you can use 64.246.32.51/~admin1/forums.

It's okay now. I've found it. :) But thanks mate.

Just your retarded connection. :p ;)

(Of course, I came to this thread about four days too late.)

*bump*

Wow, it's been a full year since we last needed this thread. I guess that can't be all bad... :b:

Anyway, I don't think I should ever be Prez in the CtP2DG again: things have never gone so badly as in the past 3 weeks: Germans declaring war, turn chats canceled, forums down

The fact that it has been almost exactly a year keep confusing the hell out of me. I've seen year old refugee camp threads two or three times now, and wondered why they were started two days before poly went down.

and right in the middle of the DG chat as well! Aaargh.

Aye down again, this is the longest one ive known. If only they had decent colour schemes, support for netscape and a proper ctp1&2 section... it would make an even better backup.

Well, CFC still beats imarton.net (but only barely) ;)

Hey guys :goodjob:

I decide to log onto 'Poly for the first time in what seems like forever, and guess what!! :crazyeye:

Anyway, here's how well I've been keeping up with what's beemn happening at Poly... Locutus, I didn't even realize that you were now the Pres. of the DG. Congrats!!!

On another note, what is the standing on the SP tournament? Is there still time to turn a game in?

Maquiladora
Apr 23, 2003, 11:38 AM
Hey centrifuge :D

The tourney finished on the 20th but im guessin if you can get it finished soon you can put it up, theres only like 3 or 4 people entered so far.

I think this is the quietest forum at CFC, but still I need to make a mod action. You're only talking about differences between CFC and Apolyton. If you want to talk about a subject regarding CTP: find/start a thread about that subject. If you want to talk about differences of CFC and Apolyton, use Off-Topic.
