Our nation needs a Museum, it craves one. A place where our children can hear about the great victories of our forefathers and fine arts from the past. With the powers vested upon me, I declare this a National Museum.

President Grey Fox

Welcome citizens of Phoenatica. The Phoenatica National Art Museum is more than honored to house the exhibits of local artistry. The first of many exhibits, "Our Scientific Advances", has it's first installments hanging in the Main Hall. Please feel free to wander and stay as long as you like. The Management.

Now on exhibit in the West Hall, "The Great Wonders" will take you face to face with the far reaches of the known world. As these works are crafted by the local artisans, we're proud to display them here.

Request: I would like a painting of the beautiful city-view of the great city PDX.

Cyc
Apr 16, 2002, 09:12 AM
That would be to hang here in the Museum, Shabbaman? Or to have posted in the PDX thread?

Shabbaman
Apr 16, 2002, 09:32 AM
Actually, I was trying to delete my last posting after reading your enthousiastic reply in the GREAT PDX thread, but all I achieved was getting some error message (d'oh!).

And regarding your question: well, both ofcourse!

Is there anything more beautiful than the city of PDX? Don't we want to see it everywhere we look?

Cyc
Apr 16, 2002, 09:44 AM
@Shabbaman - I can arrange to have a bird's eye view of PDX posted in your thread. As the Museum is still under construction, (we have just opened the West Hall), it may be a while before the beautiful city of PDX finds a place here on our walls. But I'm sure it will.

@everyone. comments and requests pertaining to the Museum can be posted in this thread, more personal requests such as works being posted to your thread, should be sent to me by private message. Thank you,

Cyc

Yes, for those of you who are thinking "The Forbidden Palace isn't one of the Great Wonders....", when we found out it was available, we felt it was too important a Wonder and too beautiful a painting not to include in the exhibit.

What about a picture of the glorious troops marching into the American capital--Washington? I believe that the immortals deserve that. Could we arrange some sort of monument for the victorious fighters?

Cyc

Interesting suggestion, ssmith619. Let me look into it and I'll see what I can find.

Edit 04/23/02 - I have looked extensively through many archives for a painting of troops marching on the great Capitol of Washington, as I know I've seen it. But to no avail, ssmith619. The only tribute I've located on any circuit or in the Great Library can be viewed at www.civfanatics.net/uploads/whitehouseww1.jpg
in the new upload file server.

Welcome to the "IMMORTAL" exhibit. There will be 8 posts to this exhibit. As you enter the foyer, you see the famed polychrome glazed brick frieze of the "Winged Lion Kings". This was a favored form of artistic architecture in the ancient Persian Empire.

Next to it you see a graphic representation of an even more famous "Immortals". This graphic shows a close-up of two of the Immortal guards. The original polychrome glazed brick frieze is standing in the Beer Gardens, where we end this tour.

Follwing the first graphic is another one showing a representation of the Immortal infantry on a force march (similiar to what you'll see at Thunder Bay this weekend). And this is followed by a graphic of a monument to the great Persian King Cyrus.

On to our first painting. It's of the Elite Immortal Guards protecting the entrance to the Palace at Susa. Alongside this is one of an Immortal in field dress, preparing for battle. And the next is one of Darius III, another great Leader, on the Palace steps.

Here we have the Elite Regiment of Immortals in Dress Uniform. The Immortals were feared on 3 Continents and dressed as such. Using dyes indigenous to the area, they created flamboyant uniforms.

As we arrive at the renowned Beer Gardens, we see displayed at the fountain, the famed "Immortals". This polychrome glazed brick frieze was taken from the Palace of Cyrus in Susa. The three Immortals depicted here are Palace guards, protecting the entrance. This display was borrowed from another famous Museum and being one of the oldest works of Art known to man, .....we may just keep it...

Does anyone wish to see a Fanatika National Art Museum? If so, what would you like to see exhibited? None of the subjects in this Museum will be considered, but if you have an idea, post it here.:egypt:

I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the exhibits and who visited our fine National Art Museum. Hopefully, together, we were able to record some of Phoenatica's glorious history. The Museum is now closed. Grab a free beer on your way out and toast the IMMORTALS!
