For Vanilla (http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19218)
Or Warlords (http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19396)

I haven't tried them out and don't know if they fix all outstanding issues. But for Vanilla the list does not include some things I am interested in like 'black ice' and kernel panics on ATI cards in Intel Macs. Maybe they are fixed - reports eagerly awaited.

The patch description at MacGameFiles (http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19218) does not describe a fix for the kernel panics. I am hoping, but worried. Will install tonight.

Does anyone know if patching warlords to 2.08 break 2.00 saves?

Does anyone know if patching warlords to 2.08 break 2.00 saves?

No. But someone has to go first.

(And you can always reinstall 2.00 if it gives you grief.)

Looks good so far.

The following graphics issues that I had are fixed as far as I can tell:

Trees are now the right height
Black terrain and FOW problems seem to be gone.
Mehmed II leaderhead works

It looks as if the Civ4 and Warlords versions of the Mac HoF Mod work. :)

The bad news - still no SDK :(

[PS] I never realised the waves were supposed to lap on the beach like that - they must have been broken before.

If I'm only playing warlords, do I need both?

AlanH
Jan 24, 2007, 06:33 PM
Probably not, but why not install both? It's not a big job unless you're on dial-up

Is there anyone with Mac Warlords 2.08 who hasn't read the WOTM 5 spoilers, and would like to play the game? It has three weeks to run, and I can put together a set of saves if required.

Blue Marble and Better Ship Scales mods still work?

AlanH
Jan 24, 2007, 07:23 PM
Blue Marble's fine. I don't use Better Ship Scales, so I don't know about that one

A few problems:
- I am missing some sounds now (interface sounds)
- a huge horizontal part of the screen went white in the hour I have played so far, zooming in and out fixed it, moving around did not

Might be a touch faster playing/loading etc (might be my imagination)

most importantly for me:
- GameSpy does not seem to work (yes, i confirmed my user name and password at their web site, when I click the login button, the clouds hesitate for a sec then continue... the login screen never changes) help!

do I need to open any ports?

I'll try Warlords a bit later after the kids are in bed (hmmmm does gamespy work on Warlords?)

Mac OSX 10.4.8, iMac G5 1.8 1 gig 64mb gfx card nvidea 5200 fx (yeah, i know)

On PC you need to create the user from inside the game.. I believe the gamespy user for civ4/warlords add some special chars to the name or something..
If trying to log in with a char you created in another way it reacts like you described..

Should not have to open ports for gamespy.. however I dont know if gamespy works on mac... I believe to play on gamespy the game needs some special gamespy libraries that isnt included on the mac version?

Creating a Gamespy account worked for me.

I have to say, kudos to Aspyr for managing to get Gamespy's browser in the game. I definitely was not expecting it. I never bothered to use Gameranger, and this will make playing multiplayer games much more pleasant. I played a bit on it and it wasn't laggy at all on my 1.67 powerbook. I'm wondering, did CivIV sell well enough that they could justify paying Gamespy's outrageous fees?

That said, the game I played had only music and ambient sounds...(I'm using Warlords.)

I'm having crash-on-start problems as well. My unit: 1.83gHz MacBook (standard 60GB version).

Installed the patch to Vanilla. Played for a little more than an hour, full screen mode. No crashes or other problems yet on 1st generation MBP.

BTW, this is Warlords. Haven't tried straight Civ.

I reconfirmed my account name (don't use spaces or special characters) via gamespy's web site, relogged in to CIV, set up the same exact info in CIVanilla, tried to log in and PRESTO! worked perfectly from then on.

CIVVarlords works great as well.

Tons of PC CIVaholics playing games on both.
I played 3 games (tho none got very far for various reasons).

Thank you Aspyr!!!!!! and gamespy/fireaxis

ps - no graphics glitches thos sounds still seem oddly absent
might play a hair faster? zooms seem smoother on my antique video card (powered by kerosene, enormous brass wheels and drive belts)

Crashes upon the initial screen (after loading files) on Macbook 2Ghz, 10.4.8. Anyone else?

Same macbook, same OS X (including all the most recent updates), just installed Warlords 2.08, loads files etc, screen goes blank and then I get the "this application has quit unexpectedly" dialog.

Removing my ~/Documents/Civilization IV Warlords folder didn't help...

What does the crash report say? Click 'Send to Apple' in the crash dialog and look at the text you get. You don't have to send it to Apple, but Aspyr might like a copy. If you paste the first part of it here, you *might* get some clues.

It's obviously a graphics system crash. It looks like the MacBook's (unsupported) integrated graphics chip has been left out of the testing.

Do you get the same with Civ4 vanilla?

Just installed the patch. When great people are born to cities owned by leaders I know, the chat log says "Michaelangelo has been born in U (R)!" instead of Uppsala and Ragnar. Is there any way to fix this?

Just installed the patch. I created a gamespy account at gamespyid.com, and verified my email address.

However, I cannot log into gamespy. When I hit login, the clouds just pause for a second.

Is this perhaps because I am using this from a school network?

Could be, but I would think gamespyid.com would've been blocked as well. Or, there are no open ports from the school.

Er, college network actually, so it's not that it's blocked.

No open ports sounds like it could be the problem... the college makes you register your MAC address to play on XBox Live, so might I have to do something similar for cIV?

Here's the full text of the crash report:

Why does your crash report say version 2.00? Are you sure the patch installed properly?

I have 24" imac latest Os x, after downloading 2.08 patch I get same types of messages with those announcesments, like "Great leader born in U(2)" or something.

I played about 5 hours last night, and the game crashed to desktop twice. I sent error to Apple, did not copy and paste it first.

Sometimes, my Great Wall casuses weird graphics glitches, flashing really fast; restarting seemed to resolve it every time.

Aside from Gamespy and perhaps a slight speed increase, this patch is anti-good. Seems to have brought all the bugs from the initial release. (The speed increase might be my brain seeing something it wants to see rather than what is there).

•*No sounds except ambient stuff. Not even Nimoy's narration.
•*The globe view is broken again. Messed up textures. At one point my globe featured the texture of the top right corner. Weird.

The above issues are in Warlords. In vanilla, I can't even get a game to launch. It crashes at "setup players". Powerbook 1.67, 10.4.8.

Hi this is my first actual post, been reading the forums here for a long time. So Hi everyone.

Anyway the reason why i am posting is because this thread seem to intrigue me the most.
Becasue as after patching to the Civ IV Warlord Rev A patch i also noticed that when great people are born the message says "Great leader born in X (Y)"

I was also still noticing that the ice at the polls was still turning black after extened periods of play.

It doesnt seem like anyone has any suggestion for the great leader messages so I was just posting to at least show that its not just a couple of people.

Just one other thing i noticed that when you get info on the Warlords app in the finder it says version 2.00 still but in the actual game under the build section it actually say 208 or somthing like that which would suggest its is indead the right patch I assume its just the way the patch is done right? And that would make sense to the reason why the guy that posted his crash report said 2.00. instead of 2.0.8.

So just checking to make sure everyhting seemed ok.

Have just done CIV (vanilla) REV B patch as well but havent played it so can't report any bugs with that yet.

- Using a 1st Gen 17 inch Macbook Pro with 1 GB Ram just for info purposes
I know these forums arn't official but does seem to be a great source of actulaly getting answers and workarounds. Thanks for any infomation

Just experienced a crash in a fully patched Rev. B vanilla. It seemed to involve Core Audio so I sent a copy to Brad and Apple. So all the bugs aren't ironed out even for fully supported computers (MacBook Pro in my case).

But I've been running it using anti-aliasing and full screen and haven't had a kernel panic yet. Fingers crossed this means that they have at least improved the stability and dealt with the really nasty lockups.

Update: It crashed again in pretty much the same way. The thread that crashed was an audio related one that had some mention of Core Audio in it. I seem to recall that these were the sort of crashes I was getting in earlier versions of Civ as well.

There's no build number in the Warlords Get Info, though there is in Civ4 vanilla (17139). I suspect some housekeeping was forgotten when it was released.

Both of the patch disk images include a 'buildnotes.rtf' file that appears to be an internal document. It gives a number which, in the case of the Civ4 patch, matches the above Get Info build number. So it looks as though Warlords may now be at build 17987. Its final build date was 23 January according to the buildnotes, which was just the day before it was published. Not much time for final QA :hmm:

For those of you who are wondering about performance improvements....

I suspect that there may be something real to it rather than being something in your imagination. I checked it out and it is now multithreaded in a way it didn't seem to be before. It is averaging about 140% and 8 threads on my machine. So those of you with dual core (or better) machines may notice some speed improvement. As I understand it, previously all the graphics were done on one core in one thread and some audio work was put in another thread leading to it peaking around 105%. My guess is that it is now distributing some of the heavy work across both cores and giving some sort of performance improvement as a result.

Heh. Well, I just purchased the Warlords XP for Mac ... and, judging from what I've seen in this thread, I'll hold off on patching it and vanilla Civ IV for the timebeing.

No big deal for me. It's been months since I last played Civ IV, so I need some time to reacquaint myself with it. For starters, I've already copied a vanilla WBSave (Europe) and altered the map's suffix so it'll run properly in Warlords. Now I need to generate a 24-civ Warlords map, go into it with TextEdit and, using information from the aforementioned map, modify the copied Europe map accordingly so there are more civilizations (properly placed, too!) to play with. Carthage, the Vikings, the Celts ... oh, yeah!

That's interesting. On my Mac Pro I can't see any significant difference. It still uses less than 100% of one core most of the time.

Is that Warlords or vanilla, and at what stage in the game? My old Civ4 crash logs show that it always did have 7 or 8 threads running when it went down. Most of them were just watchers with little activity. I also have a few old Warlords crash logs. They never showed more than 5 threads running.

Warlords at 4000 BC, huge map, the game only uses about 70-80% total CPU. It does have eight threads now, but I suspect that just brings it up to the same thread architecture that Civ4 always had.

The Civ4 benchmark that was published hereabouts recently manages to push the CPU up to about 130% if I zoom in and out furiously, but it's still very laggy doing that, and worse if I don't disable city details in globe view. It shows 9 threads running.

So, while the thread structure does seem to have changed - more so on Warlords than on Civ4, I don't see any significant improvements in distribution of workload on my 4-core system as a result.

Check the modified dates on the files and folders. Warlords had lots of updates throughout the game data files as well as the app itself. Not surprising really, as the game was extensively revised in version 2.08.

and to answer my own question - just replacing the app does NOT work. about this build will list

civ version 200
save version 200
build version 2.0.8.0

with just the app replaced but:

civ version 208
save version 200
build version 2.0.8.0

with moving over the whole folder - this is warlords obviously

Is that Warlords or vanilla, and at what stage in the game?

This was vanilla at the early stage (around 0AD) of the 18Civ Earth Scenario.

Maybe my memory is faulty about how hard it went on my machine previously because I hadn't played much since October - but I didn't remember it getting much above 105% except with the release version that maxed out both cores because of a bug.

I've also used memory meters to look at how the load is distributed. It is splitting evenly between the cores with about 75% total on each core with most of this being Civ IV. That looks like it is threading it more or less optimally. It is also playing nice when I put it into the background as it has dropped right down while I type this post.

Do others have better memory on this front? I'm running a 1st generation MacBook Pro (Core Duo 2.0GHz) for reference.

Why does your crash report say version 2.00? Are you sure the patch installed properly?

JoAT

How can I make sure it's installed correctly? I run the patch installer, agree with the license, and click Upgrade and it tells me the upgrade is finished.

I checked the Get Info on the Warlords executable file and it does indeed say version 2.00, modified today at (a few minutes ago, when I actually patched it) so something did happen even if the version number has not changed.

What does your Get Info say, did it update the version number?

Thanks,

Hi,

my system: iMac G5 (1st Generation with GeForce 5200)

After applying the patch for 1.61 Rev. B the game has problems:
- with the sound, I can only hear the background music, no city or unit specific sounds
- severe graphics errors escpecially with the map in the lower right corner of the screen

Before the patch, none of these problems occured.

Well, so much about software testing at Aspyr ;-)

Thanks,
Narmox.

As stated by others above. The version number remains at 2.00 in Get Info, though Aspyr claim it's version 1.00 rev A. I think they are as confused as we are

If you run the game and get to the initial menu, then click 'Advanced' and 'About this Build' you should see:

Civ Version: 208
Save Version: 200
Build Version: 2.0.8.0
Build Date: Jan 9 2007 16:01:50
Build: FINAL RELEASE
Mod Name: Mods\HOF-Mac-2.00.002\

Yes, OK, I admit it. The last line is an unashamed plug for the Mac HOF Mod :) You'll see 'None' in this line if you have no mod loaded.

Hi,

and now I really have a problem.

I was so naive to simply apply the patch without making a copy of the existing installation directory.

Now I would like to reinstall Civ IV and apply the old patch revision A, which has worked perfectly well for me. But: the official websites only the list the rev B patch, the older patch is not available anymore.

Does anybody know a place that still has the patch file? Even here on Civfanatics the link in the download section refers to macgamefiles, where there is only the new rev B patch.

Is there anyone with Mac Warlords 2.08 who hasn't read the WOTM 5 spoilers, and would like to play the game? It has three weeks to run, and I can put together a set of saves if required.

I did get a response to the above post, so I've built and uploaded Mac versions of the WOTM 05 start files. To play them you will need to install Mac HoF Mod 200.002.

You can find the WOTM 05 "Saves Available" thread here which gives a description of the game, and from there you can get to the Game Release page where you can download the start file for the level of difficulty you want.

Please give it a shot. It's a Prince level game this time around, on a Fantasy Realm map which should stretch your graphics a bit. And please let me know if you have any problems with the saves or with the Mod.

Overall the patch seems to be much better than previous. The one thing that is good is that this patch adds the functionally to play the old Vanilla custom maps such as Earth18Civs or Earth etc that actually came with the Vanilla install without having to change the file type or restart back into vanilla they now actually appear under the play scenario section with '(Civ 4)' after there name to denote its a Vanilla map :D. The only thing that i seemingly have to boot into vanilla for is the 3 original Scenarios that were actually mods ie the American Revolution, Greek World and Desert War. (I haven't downloaded any mods/scenarios that did not come on the original disks so I don't know about them).
Overall I am happy with the patch. I expect a second one will accually address some of the new issues.

Oh just remember something else tho. I used to have a issue where i was playing and all of a sudden my speakers make a loud pop sound and then i would have no sound at all. All i have to do is hit the F5 key to turn the sound up and its back. This only happens in the game and at no other time. This seem to be better but not completely gone in this patch anyone else experiance that issue (Again this is on a MBP)? this is no big issue at does not affect my game or sound once it comes back so if no one has an answer no biggy. Thanks in advance.

TBH i didnt try them out to that extent they worked and had the starting settings right eg if you played as English you start in England if you're French you start in france etc but i dont know about the actual features like UU and costs etc. I Know i could only choose Elizabeth as the English but that is just the settings of the map i think.

I haven't had any real issues with the Warlords patch to 2.08. The sound all works, I can see Mehmed with my Nvidia card, and the video glitch where you could see into the fog when you are next to where the map wraps is fixed. This is on a 24" iMac. I haven't run vanilla any.

I am seeing the "Albert Einstein born in B (G)". This has changed with this patch. Before all of the city names were unique, so it would just say the city. But people would use an exploit where they would change the name of their first city to the names that other civs used. If it didn't allow a name then you knew that civ was playing. So now you can have the same city name for different civs, so the born in comment is supposed to have the city name and civ name. This might be fixable in an XML file, as it seems to me that it would be happening at that level.

* When playing in GameSpy as a guest, constantly get dialog that a player is trying to connect, and I need to open ports, even though I am not host and opened and forwarded all ports (is this even necessary?).

I've checked for code outside of the C++ core software that could output this message, and it looks as though the <City> (<Civ>) format is provided from within the C++ code, and simply displayed by the Python code. So it's not possible to fix this without recompiling the software. Sorry :(

I'll gladly share the finished map. I can't promise a timeline, though, as I've got a lot of things going on IRL, but when the map is finished, I'll post it here for others to download (which is another thing I need to refresh myself on how to do).

This is the process I'm undertaking to produce a 24-civ Warlords map:

1. I'll take one of my custom 18-civ Earth maps from vanilla Civ IV and rename the suffix so it will open up in Warlords.

2. I'll generate a random 24-civ Warlords map.

3. Closing out of the game, I'll launch TextEdit and open up the maps and, from there, do some XML editing.

4. The XML editing should mainly be limited to copying nation data from the random 24-civ Warlords map and putting it into the 18-civ Warlords map (which was formerly a vanilla Civ IV map), and making sure everything lines up (i.e. if the Celts are Team 21, then their unique traits info need to be #21 as well, since, from what I can tell, Civ IV Vanilla/Warlords reads XML information in a sequential manner).

5. Test the completed map in an actual game.

6. Fix bugs, if any.

7. Post said map for download.

hi all,

i have already read in this forum about some problems with the sounds in warlords after installing the new patch. but no one has an answer, or i just not see any.
so at all, i have the same problem. sound doesn´t work during fights, or when i click on buttons or even when i get a new technology, also the "persons " (doesn´t know the right word in english, sry) don´t talk to me when activating them. The hole interactive sound doesn´t work well.
These things and problems are in my opinion the same like the soundbugs at the first version from civ IV.
But some good things: its much more faster to play, and not so much system freezings. But at all without sounds not really fun to play.

Could someone pl answer this message. My question: is the sound problem my fault, or the games one? And what can i do to fix it. Or will a new patch come out soon?.

Maybe my technical system information will help too:
Dual G5 1,8 (no intel!), 3GB Ram Memory, ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB, OSX 10.4.8.

I hope for some answer!

My observations after patching warlords:
- Only ambient sounds
- The city indication bars for growth and production are sometimes empty (no orange bars) even when the city is growing or production is in progress
- Occasionally (parts of) the screen gets colored (screenshot). Moving to another part of the map and returning helps to get rid off it.146672
- Loading the wotm 5 saves looks like this 146673 The upper half of the base terrain is black. I noticed as well that the loading process took much longer than usaul for these files.

Although my machine is at the lower limits of the the spec (1,8 GHz G5, FX 5200) I have never experienced such problems (neither CivIV nor Warlords).

These patches must have been done w/ internal testers only. ;)

Maybe they decided that their external testers didn't do them any favours for the initial releases :p

Anybody hear anything worthwhile from Aspyr yet? All I got was an email saying unfortunately some of your problems stem from the fact that you don't meet the minimum requiremts (even they do not) and copied and pasted this from the download page: (painful caps removed)

So basically Aspyr is now cutting off the computers that were below minimum specs, even if they could play the game fine? Wow. Just.. wow..

I will definitely have to create an account on their support site now, and report this bug AND my disappointment at their stance...

My (Vanilla) CivIV now has the following About information:

Civ Version: 161
Save Version: 103
Build Version: 1.6.1.1841 (45604)
Build Date: Jan 4 2007 17:21:36
Build: FINAL RELEASE
Mod Name: None (sorry AlanH)

Compared to Rev A, I'm seeing (hearing) more sound issues. Mr. Nimoy is conspicuously absent. Spreading religion no longer makes any sound, neither the act nor its reflection in the message area. Fighting or bombarding no longer has sound.

Graphics wise, now a lot of characters on my map seem to be backlit, with the side facing the camera cast in shadow.

Powerbook G4 1.67 (next-to-last model), Chipset Model: ATY,RV360M11; VRAM (Total): 128 MB; Vendor ATI; Device ID: 0x4e50; Revision ID: 0x0000; ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-160. 1280 x 854, full screen. Built-in Sound Card: Texas Instruments TAS3004; Graphics Level Low, Render Quality Level Medium, Globe Quality Low

So is this patch worthwhile? Seems an awful lot of new problems, when I've been chugging along okay... Especially since I'm running a MBP, and those seem especially distressed, I'm leery of even bothering to try an upgrade.

Did about five hours today, with no noticeable alteration in speed, performance or sound (except that some of my units did disappear in one battle, only to reappear when they'd won). Spock still speaks, all sound FX present.

But my Mac is a long way above minimum specs, so perhaps not the ideal test bed.

Anyone else noticing strange graphical glitches? They're mostly flashes where parts of the screen blank in and out...

I had this weird bug where the screen got really really bright to the point of where it was almost all white, and then it got really dark. Had to do a hard restart. This was in warlords.

Aspyr responded to my ticket. They pointed me to the documents which show audio problems are a known bug. As first posted by Cougar (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5041469#post5041469), they wrote:

Thank you for contacting us. We are aware of some audio problems with the new Civilization 4 patch, as stated on the patch support site.

Hey folks,

I'm not sure if anyone else has already done so, but FYI, I just opened a ticket about the missing City/Civ event text, à la Warlords 2.08 patch.

This is the problem where Great People announcements are incomplete. To use Welnic's example "Albert Einstein born in B (G)."

I've also noticed this when some cities are over taken.

Peace,
-P

We've discussed that problem but not sure if anyone submitted a ticket. Thanx for doing that, hope we get a new patch soon it's irritating when you can't see what city or even which civ just got a great person!

First CTD last night. Seemed to be caused by saving (luckily, the save went through!). Nimoy disappeared again shortly beforehand, so I suspect a connection.

Are a lot of these bugs showing up on PPC machines, Intel machines or both? I have yet to patch vCiv IV or wCiv IV, and I'm leery of doing so ...

Oh well, having played several dozen turns, I'm beginning to experience the graphics problems experienced by others. Namely, the popular black ice and the fuzzy-colored flashes.

Here's a new one: these Musket units had available promotions, but instead of the bluish aura, I got these rotating green squares.

It would be nice if the Warlords DVD would also run the Civ4 app. It would be a friendlier set-up for those playing community PBEM games and such on the different apps.

Once is patch is installed, is there a way to uninstall it? I'm running vanillaCIV patched to 1.61, and I'm not sure I want to do the Rev. B.

At the very worst (and most likely), you'll have to reinstall from the original disk, then patch to 1.61.

Reinstall Civ4 and then apply patch A. I believe patch A is still available if you didn't keep it. Try a search at 3D Downloads (http://www.3ddownloads.com/). If you can't track it down, drop me a PM.

:hmm: I'm confused. Is RevA different from patch 1.61?

AlanH
Feb 05, 2007, 06:09 PM
There have been three release states of Civ4:

1. The original DVD version.

2. The Rev A. patch released in July last year.

3. The Rev B. patch that has just been released.

I assume you have Civ4 on a DVD. That will either be the unpatched original release, or, if you bought it recently, it may possibly include the Rev A Patch. You can tell by mounting the DVD, selecting the Civ4 application icon, and selecting Get Info in the Finder's File menu. Its version information will include 'Rev A' if it has already been updated.

If you already have Rev A on your DVD then you only need to re-install that. If it doesn't say it's Rev A then you should update it using the Rev A patch.

Thanks Alan. I indeed have a DVD, purchased a in December.

It just says Version 1.61 (v9565) under info.

So I'll be installing the RevA soon. Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure that v9565 is the Rev. A patch. Isn't it?

Well, I went ahead and did the RevB install, and I can't even load the game now. Others have posted about the same issues with the same MacBook I have, so I won't go into details. Needless to say, I'll be reinstalling from the DVD now.

If anyone is running OK on a MacBook, you'll likely have problems if you install the RevB patch.

:D

Yeah, it was not a little annoying to install cIV all over again.. along with the HOF mod... (thanks again, Alan :))

One thing that's different now, and I don't know if anyone has any advice about this:
Originally, after the first time I installed the game when I bought it, I would get a pop-up that warned that "Your movies are not installed correctly". I didn't really care, as I'm more interested in the effects of the Spiral Minaret than the graphic. It also skipped the intro movies, which was really nice, as I didn't need to click 5 times before reaching the Main Menu.

But after I reinstalled, I no longer get the warning - but I DO have to suffer through and click through those stupid flash screens of the companies that had something to do with the cIV release.

Is there any way to disable those? It used to be so smooth - I'd click on the cIV icon in the dock, and the first screen that would come up was the Main Menu! I'd love to get back to that level of user-friendliness.

Open ~/Documents/Civilization IV/CivilzationIV.ini in TextEdit.

Change it so that the following entry reads:

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 1

Save the file and relaunch Civ4. No intro movies.

I'd *love* to update Civ IV Vanilla and Warlords to their latest versions. Unfortunately, I'm *still* waiting for a patch to fix the patch. Heh. I guess it's a good thing the Civ series of games occupies a smaller niche in my life now than it did prior to Civ IV coming out for the Macintosh.

Oh, Civ II, how I miss you (sometimes).

I am not at all happy with the Warlords patch.
No sound effects. Black units and improvements, particularly after a bit of worldbuilding. Several bugs were fixed OK (crashes on loading, resources and railroads) but it´s almost become a bore seeing silent battles between black units. Not a thing I like to admit having played Civ on the Amiga and ever since.

I installed the Rev B patch on my vanilla copy of Civ4 on my Powerbook G4 1.33GHz. There were some bugs with the map, like sections appearing greenish when viewd from a certain point, and polygons projecting from cities into the camera. The sound was gone too. But I think I noticed a modest performance boost, does anyone else report the same on that?

Hi all,

I'm a very long time civ mac user (from the 1st version), and Civ4 for mac is great too.... BUT

- release version civ4 was totally buggy (as we can all read here), did they only test it on 1 machine or what??

- then they start (late!) patching, but it's really annoying how these patches fix 1 thing, and damage another. Civ4 plays rather well now, but then I cldnt resist to get the Warlords exp. Aargh. Again no working version from the box.

Tried the Warlords patch: no battle sounds, without the patch sounds are OK, but the rendering goes wrong: black ice and farms and so on. Bah. I'm just registering to let Aspyr know that this really sux.

Im using powerpc G5, dual 2.5,Tiger, so that can't be it, can it...

bye all, sorry to bother u all with my frustrations...
play on...
