if there is a river, which direction is it flowing,



What purpose is this information good for? Is it just to direct the graphics, or does this have some sort of affect on game play about which I was unaware...?

It is only used for the graphics. About half the information you get from Chipotle was put in there by Firaxis (this is one of them), the other half are things that Blake or I added.
