Can anyone help me? Or have i simply tried to do to much? :)

I wanted the crusader in the Civ3 PTW, so i simply copied the crusader map in units from conquest to unit map in PTW. I also copied this pcx (?) file so I would get the crusader icon. Then i just opened the PTW editor, maid some rearrangements (added a unit named crusader, gave him the correct proporties and choosed the crusader icon, 180). finish! I thought!

Set the crusader to be available after feudalism been developed, then in the early middle ages I selected from the production menu to build one. Then the game said "load error, the game will be exited" What have I done wrong? please help!

Oh, and by the way. If making any chanses to the this default scenario file (which determines the conditions of a new scenario), will it also affect saved games based on that? Meaning if i change things in it, will this game that crashed work then?
regards
Johnnie

The load error message contained a phrase that did go something like this:
missing txt in " "text\Pediancons.txt":Animname_ " . What´s that all about?

And as said, are there any way if i clear out the changes that this can be applied to an ongoing game? I´m doing really good on deity and would´t like to scrap this game :)

The error is exactly what it means, see if you did everything correctly.

But where do I find that file? I know nothing about modding, the only thing i did was ro copy a art/unit map from conquest to PTW and create in the editor a unit exactly as the crusader. Thought that would work but appearently not.

You have to make sure you add a duplicate for the unit you added I think.

you look in your Civ III/PTW/Text folder, look for the file that says:

pedialicons.txt (or something close, I forget exactly what its called)

you need to add the file paths for the large and small icons, as well as the animation...

they will be something like:

PRTO_Crusader
Art/pedialicons/crusaderLRG.pcx
Art/pedialicons/crusaderSML.pcx

and seperately at the bottom...

#Animename_PRTO_Crusader
Crusader

now the exact wording may be off, but they look more or less like that...if I was on a puter with Civ installed, Id copy and paste em for you...

I also think it wiser to copy the eintire File folder(and pedia icons) into PTW instead of linking...just my opinion...

I found the the pedialicons file and thought a copy of it from conquest to ptw would just do fine. but then the game said it missed a Art/tech chooser/Icons/feudalism-small.pcx. As there was no tech chooser map in PTW, I also copied that from conquest but stranded on the same pedialicons problem.

Could it have something to do with it´s on a saved game file i test it?

Okay, so this seems to be a bad idea. Are there any way to edit the .sav file to get rid of that faulty crusader? I mean to get back to vanilla rules.

Open the editor then selece rules\restore default rules.

Will this apply to my ongoing saved game also? Think I tried before but nothing changed. But then I only tried to make some changes to the scenario file, not restore it completely.

edit/ Tried to change out the changed default scenario file with a new untouched from the cd. But the result where the same, that darn crusader and with all other changes where still in the game.

Any saved game from the changed file will not work.
