Not sure if this is appropriate to post since I am only going to be away from a certan section for a while.
I am going to rest my mind and sanity and take a month break from OT. You may still catch me in the Demogames forum.

OT only strengthens your mind and your sanity!! Really, seriously, I'll never get why people get scared away from the opinions of other people. Just make up your mind after rational deliberation and then stnad behind your point and laugh at all the silly people who never get anything. Ah well, see you round.

My aunt finally lost her fifteen-year fight against cancer last week. Our family is very close. So that's had me sort of busy the last week or so, why I haven't been and won't be posting much. On Thursday I have to go to Florida to be with my cousin for a little while. I'm not expecting too much if any internetting while down there. I'd like to think I'll be missed in the Ask a Girl thread though I'm glad I'm not the only staff over there.

See y'all in a couple weeks.

Sorry to hear LucyDuke. We missed you in the Ask a Thread, you and GT actually so much so that without your presence the whole thing bunked!

...um, as for me... I'm going to an interview, so I won't be back for a day...

I'd like to remind all people who use CFCwiki that they have no right to post anything that you personally find insulting inflammatory or infringes on your personal privacy, ie the example given with Strider. So if you want them to remove anything ask a mod at wiki and they will make them. The mods have given themselves rights they do not possess, do not buy into their nonsense, you have the right to edit anything out of your personal profile you want, on the slightest of whims, and there is damn all they can do about it except kick you off. :D

Um, this is completely false, and you will notice that the old Sidhe page is alive and kicking at the new location of the Wiki :p.

However, it is Sidhe's right to stop posting at CFC if that's what he wants. I wish him the best in his future endeavors and hope he doesn't leave with any hard feelings :).

Well you best remove it then or I'll contact wiki staff again, this time I doubt they'll be very happy, and I am absolutely correct, anyone can complain to wiki saying they find x offensive and they will remove it, the reson I know this is because I know several people who have done it.

I expect to see it gone within the next week or again I'll have to take up the case with them. This is why mods should never appoint themselves, you end up with idiots who have no consideration whatsoever for other people or there feelings.

Ctharsis, you wait till you get banned for three months solid for slights so minor that it's actually more offensive to take offence than to actually ignore it, you may feel differently then.

Thanks to anyone who posted something pleasant anyway :wavey:.

I am quite serious, since I am no longer a memeber of CFC, why the hell am I still a member of your crap shoot? Are you mental?

Like I said Fifty, internet nobodies as worthless as you and your sycophantic idiot cronies are easy to forget, there is no healing because that would imply I cared about you or your opinions enough. Again you'll be a distant memory in weeks, provided of course you remove me from your, manual of we can say whatever we like about anyone regardless, idiot boards.

Why do you care what 'internet nobodies' who you consider to be 'worthless' and/or 'sycophantic idiot cronies' say about you?

I expect to see it gone within the next week or again I'll have to take up the case with them. This is why mods should never appoint themselves, you end up with idiots who have no consideration whatsoever for other people or there feelings.

I'd hate to see how you would deal with any disputes or problems in the real world.

Ctharsis, you wait till you get banned for three months solid for slights so minor that it's actually more offensive to take offence than to actually ignore it, you may feel differently then.

I doubt they were 'so minor' if you got banned for 3 months.

I am quite serious, since I am no longer a memeber of CFC, why the hell am I still a member of your crap shoot? Are you mental?

If you think it's so stupid, why would you even give a damn?

Like I said Fifty, internet nobodies as worthless as you and your sycophantic idiot cronies are easy to forget, there is no healing because that would imply I cared about you or your opinions enough.

I have seen numerous times where you have cared about what random internet nobodies have said about you.

Again you'll be a distant memory in weeks, provided of course you remove me from your, manual of we can say whatever we like about anyone regardless, idiot boards.

If you simply forget about it then you won't have a problem.

Anyway, your post will more than likely have the opposite effect intended. You claim that you don't care but simply by posting what you have proves otherwise. Also, if you hate this place so much why do you keep coming back?

May 11, 2007, 09:23 AM
Why do you care what 'internet nobodies' who you consider to be 'worthless' and/or 'sycophantic idiot cronies' say about you?

Because they have just told me they will reinstate a page which from it's inclusion was used to basically print opinion lies/libel, the fact that anyone with some petty grudge can write anything they like about me, despite no longer being a part of the community is annoying, I don't want to be subject to the whims of idiots opinions; I don't think it is too much to ask that it be removed because such an article will obviously just be used to print rubbish, more so now. Their personal opinions about the situation are irrelevant that's kinda the point.

You really don't know enough about it to comment. So don't

I'd hate to see how you would deal with any disputes or problems in the real world.

By using any legal means at my disposal just as I have done here. Admittedly I did have alot of fun insulting them as well, but that's just a perk of the situation :)

I doubt they were 'so minor' if you got banned for 3 months.

On and off they were serial bans for minor offences. Ie saying your full of s*** ie self editing in the s, using the word ass, then asshattery. Got me a 3 week ban, none of these terms were used as flames I was talking about republicans and joking with another member about him being full of it. So again since you don't know why I feel the rules are OTT, I'd stay out of it.

If you think it's so stupid, why would you even give a damn?

The idea is fine the people running it are stupid, and they don't have a clue about wiki policy as well.

I have seen numerous times where you have cared about what random internet nobodies have said about you.

When people are insulting sure I care, but like I say I have a temper, it's transient, and internet nobodies don't have a lasting effect on me.

If you simply forget about it then you won't have a problem.

I only posted because I don't want my article in the wiki, that's all, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

Anyway, your post will more than likely have the opposite effect intended. You claim that you don't care but simply by posting what you have proves otherwise. Also, if you hate this place so much why do you keep coming back?

I doubt it wiki staff will make them remove it just like they did last time. If they want to play childish games that's up to them, however there are terms of use rules they cannot just walk all over with their nonsense policies. It is true wiki should be able to print the truth, but offensive opinion and libel is not the truth.

Please I'd stay out of it, you have no idea what is going on.

I would like to say that I am back from Grad week. Here was the rundown on what happened while I was away.

Thursday: Graduation Rehearsal in the Morning and received my Academic Hood in the Bachelors in Arts.
Friday: Slept most of the day to recoup from Exams
Saturday: Graduation day! Received my Bachelors in Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (BA). Ate out for lunch at Mohegan Sun and later in the night (after church), went out with my aunt and uncle to a bar in the Casino itself.
Sunday: Went out and took my mother out for Mother's day.

I'm back from the Grad week rush.

The philosophy for stickied OT threads is that we'd rather not do it. If the thread is popular enough, it'll stay on the first page. Usually they're mentioned in the OT notice board, and that's really about as stickied as we'd like to get it.

Some subforums here have way too many sticky threads. NES used to be really bad....

Okay guys, I'm both back and new to the site.

Most of you knew me as AlCosta, I asked for a name change because my name was too personal for my tastes.

Anyways, as you can tell earlier, I left for a week to go to the middle of nowhere to help out the rural poor, especially the elderly. I got back today, and I am a changed man, and hopefully, a changed user. There are people out in this world that have problems 100x worse than I do, and I shouldn't be a mopey teenager thinking I have terrible problems, because at the least, I have a future ahead of me, and I should try and help those who have less than me. I saw elderly with no family, schools who don't have enough teachers, farmers with no assistants, rednecks with no car, and members of a community who can't function on their own because of mental illness. This showed me I have to be a better man, with less anger, because if I don't, what will I become?

Anyways, I'm back, I smell like crap, I have some ticks in me, my shorts are ruined with paint and concrete, and now, I like country music.

Hey Yankee! Good to see you back, I enjoy your posts.

Good luck with your campaigns!

No more campaigning for me hopefully, not unless they want me to be a strategist (or if someone wanted me to actually run for something). But, at the risk of tossing a TV out the window by December, I am following the insanely early talk for President and for the citywide things here that won't be decided until 2009.

At least I caught some breaks in between caring for my father (fall in the stairwell, leading to lawsuit against our building that we just abandoned), completing another year of college (one more to go!), looking at MBA programs, and preparing for my father's move to NC and my own move to possibly either NC or MN.....my first four flights ever were done this year, both round trips to the Twin Cities and being picked up by my girlfriend there. So it wasn't all bad...just a lot of it.

While I'm here, might as well add the other good things that happened. First was talking to the one and only Pat Robertson while he was a guest for my C-SPAN class. He predicted a nuclear exchange over the Caribbean between us and Venezuela and then proceeded to get into a debate about Islam with two Muslim students from George Mason University.

And, also as part of the class, the trip to Washington DC. Since I got the class rolling by handling the equipment back in New York, it was like a homecoming with my counterparts in DC at the controls. Plus I was stopped at the Capitol because a bottle of cologne I threw into my bag wasn't allowed. No big loss, it was a great day, I waited outside and nothing happened on the Senate floor. The stay in DC ended with dinner and drinks at the restaurant at the top of the Hotel Washington with a good view of the White House. You bet I took pictures of it.

Those were the shining moments in the pile of steaming dirtiness that has been 2007. Very good shining moments indeed for someone that's never gone anywhere before.

Hi guys :wavey:

I've been lurking on the Civ3 forums since late 2003, and I made my way down here to OT shortly after. It was always interesting, but I never really saw a reason to post.

But now, I have succumbed to the temptation of OT. Congratualations, you have delurked another lurker.

But yeah, I've lurked for a pretty long time. To reveal my "age" slightly, I remember the stratego paint drawings. Seems like you guys have a pretty good forum around here though. Mind if I join in? ;)

It's gonna be interesting.

The family and I are now firmly ensconced in a too-small, two-bedroom flat in Brighton, East Sussex (which, I've confirmed by personal experience, is just east of West Sussex, and south, not from North Sussex (which apparently does not exist), but from Kent:) ).

Thanks to the wife, I now have e-mail and internet access.

Now, to check on the chess forum, where I am terribly overdue to be slaughtered in some five-minute games.

That's exactly what made it so difficult for me to decide whether to buy a map of East Sussex or West Sussex when I got a job down there...So far, I've not expanded to that level of complexity: I just have a local map for "Brighton, Worthing, Hove, Lewes, Newhaven, Seaford, and Shoreham-by-Sea." However, we managed to buy a car last week (a slightly-used Renault Scenic that we think will hold three car seats in the back, when child no. 3 arrives at the end of August, and we will undoubtedly expand our sphere of travels over the three years of our stay. :)

The on-topic coverage is poor because there are so few people who care now. It's still a Civ site, though, not an off-topic forum site. Even if OT has taken the place over.

And if you dislike our OT moderation (I know you do), wait until you have more experience with the moderation here at CFC. It takes much less to be banned here, or for threads to be closed.

You have to have 30 posts and be here 30 days to be able to upload your own image. The limit is 70x70, I believe.

EDIT: It used to be 300 posts. :ack:

Tomorrow I will be firmly ensconced in a U-Haul truck with my father and all his things (plus our cat) on a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina, passing through NJ, PA, MD, WV, VA, and into NC on the way. Probably will arrive sometime around 3 AM Monday morning.

I'll be back in New York on the evening of September 1st, taking Amtrak and the MTA back to my apartment.

I may be posting, I may not. Which is fine, since none of ya will miss me anyway. :p

That's gotta be the first time I've been called "reasonable."

Honestly didn't expect to be here this evening, but all the boxes are in place and it took me no time to pack away a few clothes for these days, a bunch of reading material, including that 800-page graduate book guide. Only thing that's left is the laptop and I'll put that away either right before I hit the sack or in the morning.

So it's time to figure out what this "South" is like (nevermind the transplanted New Yawkers in Greensboro). Plus I-81 hugs Appalachia...might be a nice ride (err...well...just as long as I don't pick on anyone packing heat :p ).

Well, the South's weather sucks, but you missed the worst today. I-81 actually does take a nice route, so you should be fine, as long as these thunderstorms aren't around tomorrow, they're pretty nasty at the moment.

It was all night down I-81. Ended up veering off I-80 and make a 60-mile detour just to get back on it (since I don't know where everything is). Then we got pulled over and got slapped with a huge ticket.

At least we made it, safe and sound. And my cat loves this new place! Details to follow whenever I get more time or I'm back in NYC.

I just thought I would announce that this post now will be the last one I will make on any such forum. I know I have said once before that I am leaving here, but now it is for real. I think I have enjoyed this experience of CFC, so I thank all of you here. There is no particular reason why I have decided to stop coming on here other than the fact that it has started getting a little old for me. (I am not encouraging people to leave CFC as well, as it is a great place to be on the internet). I just do not see CFC in my future.
