Hello all!

Long time player, first time poster. I have a bit of a concern that I hope you folks can help me with. I'm experimenting with modding, just some simple tweaks to make my game a bit more enjoyable. What I have done is changed three XML files: CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml, CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml, CIV4GameTextInfos_Objects.xml. I have then taken these three files and dropped them in the My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets\xml\civilizations and text folders appropriately. I load up the game and my changes work and I am now the happy Leader of the Macedonian Empire, however, when I remove these files and dump them in the recycle bin, re-boot the game, the game does not revert back to the original Greek Empire but carries on with the Macedonian Empire. I have tried deleting the files, deleting the folders that the files were contained in and deleting the entire MyGames folder with the same result. Why doesn't the game revert to the default Greek Empire When I remove the custom XML files??!?!? What step am I missing?

I am running Vanilla CIV with the 1.61. patch.

Thanks in advance for any assistance...

Sincerely,
PrimusPilus

I think you should clear the cache. This is found in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\My Games\Civilization 4 and delete the cache folder. You will have to enable 'show hidden files and folders' in Explorer though.

PS This forum is for completed tutorials only. Questions should go in the mian C&C forum.

Thank you for the response, I will try that and let you know if it works or not. Sorry about the wrong section, I didn't really see any place for questions regarding modding, so I posted in the modding forum...
