Please! Please!

(PS: SH4 is around the corner - we NEED more Japanese ships)

Ok, now that I had a look at it... there are many ships that will be in SOE, but also a lot of ships that could be useful (especially the French / Russian Destroyers and the Japanese ships).

unusable I just checked. *.dat is not a freely available or readable format. Strictly for the game.

Well those are custom made ships that also work in-game. No idea what kind of export program they use, though.

BTW, did you complete this Bayern class BB?

Hey guys, maybe not all hope is lost.

Wyrm, look at this link

If you have a 3D edition program like Wings3D, Maya, 3DMax, etc., you'll be able to see the design of any thing from the game looking for the respective .dat file and then clicking on "Export All" will create a subfolder in the unit you have previously chosen where all files that can be viewed and modified are stored so you can place them again in that unit.

http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=43777

Maybe you can use it?

It works :goodjob: exports .obj format files of everything. just checked:)

:edit: I meant Ares de Borg's link btw... that program exports .obj files from the .dat

didn't work for me, I don't have java or something. And right now I am in such a bad mood I don't feeling like trying to fix it.

So... they are working? Thad would be great news indeed!

If so: Not sure how useable each of these are but ...

Somewhere in here (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/GWX/) there are more units- for example a top notch model of the Greek Navy's RHN Georgios Averof (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=347675&postcount=119)

Ok, this is meant as a constructive bump.

First, I didn't want those fine ships to be forgotten.

Second, there is a freeware game called Navyfield.

http://www.navyfield.com/

It includes a lot of WW1/2 era ships that certainly cry for conversion.

There are even rare ships nowhere else found and desperately lacking in Civ(half of the Japanese fleet!)

Some examples:

http://www.navyfield.com/file/ship/Ise(1943).gif
Ise class BB (Japan)

http://www.navyfield.com/file/ship/Asama.gif
Asama class CA (Japan)

http://www.navyfield.com/file/ship/Moltke.gif
SMS Moltke CA (Germany)

http://www.navyfield.com/file/ship/Alaska.gif
USS Alaska Class CB (USA)

and many more.

Hm, those NavyField ships will be hard work- the moving parts especialy. Also be aware that the models they have on display on their site are higer quality models than those in the game itself- but were we to find someone that can open the sprite files which contain the ships and their guns, that'd certainly accelerate things.

Funny you should bring these up again as I spend some time only last week reworking the mistakes made when starting out with this one. Had to redo the directions and most of the turret animations and some problems with the secondary armament shining thru the superstructure, plus a fix to the palettes due to the civ transparencies and last but not least a huge number of civ color ghost pixels needed dealing with. Currently back at animating the turrets...
