View Full Version : "Build as you go" initial poll
Falcon02 Feb 09, 2007, 07:44 PM Since alot of talk has gone back and forth over, and I feel it has mostly gone in circles without a definative result. And I feel it's hindering our progress forward.
So, I would like to determine with certainty how we want to start the Leaders/Ministers/etc out.
So this initial poll shall determine if we want to start out with just the DP's and/or President/Prime Minister.
Or if we want to start off with just a couple, or all departments.
Details of each will be determined in run-off discussions/polls
EDIT:
Just to be clear
"Some/All Ministers/Leaders" - includes only having a couple leaders (ie. only Military, Domestic, and President) and adding on to them later.
DaveShack Feb 09, 2007, 09:16 PM Ravensfire had posted a process proposal in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=204607).
Basically, if this poll didn't intervene and we followed the process from that thread, we'd end up with a government in one step. Now it will take an unknown amount of extra time. :(
Falcon02 Feb 09, 2007, 10:00 PM I'm sorry if you feel this poll creates an unnecessary delay. There just seems to have been alot of disagreement about the start off plan, and I wanted to get it resolved. I'm not opposed to developing a "Build as you go" structure, and then from there add on what officies we want (if any) from that point before we actually start the game.
XDemosthenesX Feb 09, 2007, 11:27 PM I think build as we go would give us more flexibility.
ordinaryguy Feb 10, 2007, 12:12 AM Since this is my first DG and I don't really know much, I'll abstain.
Edit: What is the difference between the two choices?
DaveShack Feb 10, 2007, 12:38 AM I guess I'll have to campaign a little. :)
With build as you go, we have a proposal by Ravensfire which is ready to poll, for a chief executive, a mayor/governor, DP pool, and judiciary. If build as you go wins this poll we can go forward with polling that government proposal, and perhaps start the game in February or at the beginning of March.
If the other option ("Some/All Ministers/Leaders") wins, we can't start with Ravensfire's proposal as written. There are no reasonable proposals even started for any other government structure. (Sorry, the Parliment one is so unreasonable I don't think it could even poll 10%)
I support going with what we have.
Furius Feb 10, 2007, 01:04 AM So, basically, you're saying that Ravensfire's proposal follows directly from selecting the "Just a DP's and/or President" option?
I apprve of ravensfire's proposal... So that's an easy decision

Well, assuming Ravensfire's proposal is based on the first (ie. adding ministers/leaders as the game plays out), I see no problem, it just means the addition of new positions will occur before the start of the game.
Falcon02 Feb 10, 2007, 02:13 AM Took at closer look at his proposal... and you're right... since it seems Ravensfire is essentially abolishing his ruleset completely when we get big enough and want to elect officials......
jimkatalanos Feb 10, 2007, 08:03 AM I say Just a DP's and/or President
Talkie_Toaster Feb 10, 2007, 01:21 PM I voted for Just a DP's and/or President. This is my first demogame but from what I can gather, it's best to build up as you go along.
Shattered Feb 10, 2007, 03:09 PM i think we need some sort of ministers to start off with :)
