Here's a Tie Interceptor, flown by the Galactic Empire in Star Wars. Laser bombing animation also included.

First post. Nice unit.

Do you use Poser for all of your units?

Man, you're fast!

I love the loop-d-loop (spelling?), very realistic. Excellent job, NavyDawg, thanks!

Seconded.

My only problem with it is that it is not black enough. TIEs were black, very, very black.

Strange, I googled Tie interceptor and got a page full of tie interceptor images. That were not black. Strange.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the right color scheme. Maybe they appear darker in the movie due to lighting?

Alright! This is great. I'll probably have to resize it, though, :crazyeye:.

The color looks fine to me.

Yeah, maybe it is a bit big, but I want it a little bigger for my mod. Resizing should be easy enough. Let me know if you need help with this.

Nah, it's cool. It's pretty easy to do with Civ 3 flc.

Its perfect. And it has shadows so it should fit in the game well.

I see what the problem is, it's against a Pink background, and it looks weird. Against a black background, it'd look fine.

Sorry, I missed your question before. Yes, I use Poser for all of my units. It has its quirks, but it's a very handy program all in all.;)

everytime I comment, I end up being wrong...but

If Im not mistaken, Tie FIGHTERS are white like this unit, but Tie INTERCEPTOR (or the 1 you see in the movie) are much darker grey...Tie BOMBERS are a blue/grey color...like this:

The animation on this unit is great tho...very fluid...

They are all grey to me. I'm fine with variations of grey.

The color is correct.

They are all the same color as the TIE Fighter. Its just different lighting that makes it vary. Some artists render them in a darker grey but in the movie they are all white/light grey and under the right light they have a blue tint. The Imperial Navy has a standard for painting all fighters in the TIE series the same color.

Well, the movie replicas are not white...nor were the Kenner toys from the 80s...I cant find a single pic of a WHITE tie interceptor...they are in fact different colors...in fact there is a Red one too (http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/images/features/ships06/player_ships/RoyalGuardTIE.jpg) (interceptor)...but no White interceptor...the pilots are even colored like the Tie vehicle they pilot: Fighter pilots are white/gray, bomber pilots are grey/black...

and 2 ships side by side are in the same lighting, yet the Fighter appears white, while Darth's Interceptor appears gray...

The models used in the movie are light gray, when you shine a bright light on them they look white and if they are in the shade they look like a darker gray. The TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber and TIE Fighter all have the same paint job in the movie and just look different shades because of the various lighting, lasers and explosions that are near them. The exception is a new hope which uses older model TIE Fighters.

According to the EU all TIE series fighters have the same standard paint job. Special units such as your EU red royal guard fighter don't have to adhere to those standards. Your dark gray Interceptor picture from Star Wars Glaxies isn't indicating a new color its just the artists rendition which has very little light. The TIE fighter is rendered in the same shade of gray as the interceptor by Star Wars Galaxies.

Its the same color as the TIE Fighters. Just different lighting which looks white where it isn't shaded.

TIE Fighters in the movie:

Then the TIE Bomber with the same lighting. The blue tint is not because of a different paint job, its because of the blue explosion beneath it.
http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/dvd/ep5/tie-b2.jpg

Up close the TIE Bomber looks white because of the bright lighting. This is the same model used in the movie.

Are you sure? I thought that TIE Fighter pilots were those guys dressed in black with the breathing apparatus

You are right. All TIE pilots are in black.

Speaking of which... BFII time!

Great unit, but I just have to nitpick ;) all imperial fighter fire green lasers and rebel fighter red lasers.

This topic is starting to turn into an argument reminiscent of the "Han shot first/Greedo shot first" quarrel.

Yeah, it should fire green lasers, but that can be changed with a little palette editing.

Yes, I know it should shoot green lasers, but there's just one problem... I don't like green lasers. Feel free to change it, though.;)
