Osprey books are good overviews if you get the Campaign series books as they give you the salient points without bogging you down in too much detail. Osprey also do an Essential History book on the wars which would be a good starting point. Pretty much anything by David Chandler or Peter Hofschrer are good, detailed works but are usually expensive. Watch yourself with the latter author though, for although he researches the subject superbly he's a man with a mission. He clearly feels that the British authors do not credit the "Germans" enough for their role in the 1815 campaign and tries to redress the balance. Unfortunately from what I've seen and heard he goes too far, and two wrongs do not make a right. ulsterman88 Feb 12, 2007, 03:40 PM Thanks privatehudson, i hope to get at least one of the books sometime soon. |
