Hello all, snow is on the ground so time for some Civ!

But, I'm trying to examine some HOF games and find it asking for all sorts of HOF mod versions. Is there an easy way to look at the games (something like that awesome app Dianthus made for CivIII) or a place to download all the HOF versions?

I did check out all the data available online which is really great, thanks to whoever made that happen, is that generated all from the save or do submissions require more than the save?

Denniz or Dianthus would need to confirm this, but I think the latest HOF mod versions will open all the saves.

It's all from the saves, and the credit belongs to Dianthus. It's basically his IV equivalent to CRpSuite.

That latest version of the Vanilla mod should be able to open all old Vanilla games. I just updated the getfile.php code to use the latest, it was accidentally still on 1.61.008. For Warlords there's no alternative but to have the version of the mod installed that the game was played with. And you can't load the 2.00 games into a patch 2.08 Warlords.

Thanks for the replies, and good to see you both still in action.

I have the most recent HOF set as default, and when I tried to load an older game file the message box pops up saying it has to load HOF...<earlier version> and will require a restart. Is that what you mean? And if not what is wrong?

I believe this is corrected now, but I used to have a problem similar to this. It used to be that if you had a HoF mod set to default when the game starts and you tried to load a different version, I'd always get an error. It would state it had to restart and than crash. At that time I realized that I couldn't have the HoF mod set to default and than try and load a different version, it wouldn't work.

I recall having brought this up before and I believe one of the HoF Staff said it had been fixed, but couldn't remember exactly so I brought it up again. Maybe this is part of your trouble.

It shouldn't do that for Vanilla games, at least not ones you downloaded since I fixed that page. If you downloaded before I fixed the page then it would require 1.61.008. Could you give an example? Just give me the number of the game and I'll see if it works for me.

I assume these are the numbers you need those are version 7 and 8 respectively. The files were downloaded late on the 12th ~12AM EST.

That would be from before I made the change as in my post above. I would have expected it to require 8 for both though, so that's a little strange. Could you try downloading again? And check the link on the game info page? It should use getfile.php rather than giving you a direct link to the file on the site. getfile.php does the conversion to the latest mod before sending you the file. I just downloaded both and they opened with 10.
