Hey all,

I just started playing TR the day before yesterday, and I have to say, awesome mod. I've been waiting a long time to play as the Persians with Zoroastrianism and proper Immortals included in the game. :goodjob:

My question is about using missionaries (Magi, in my case) to spread religion. In my current game, the Magi I build can't spread Zoroastrianism to any city outside of Iran, and I've been completely unable to spread the religion outside of the country after 400-something turns of gameplay. However, Buddhism (not quite sure who founded it) has spread to almost every other country on Earth and is the official religion for about 10 different nations. I'd been hoping to spread Zoroastrianism to at least India to help secure them as an ally, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you need right of passage to send your missionaries to another civ. Anyway it's strange that buddism, usually founded later than dualism, has spread to all civ while zoro not. For example, usually I play as Persian but I never go to dualism, I prefer wait that India found Hynduism then I conquer him and I take his religion, and usually all civs around me convert to hynduism. I dont understand how you can discover dualism, usually Incas or Caterine get it first.

I dunno, but I got it. Anyways, I have right of passages with Asoka and quite a few other civs, and I can't actually spread the religion with my Magi in any of them.

Its a feature. Some religions, such as Zoroastrianism and Judaism have low chance of spreading outside borders with missionaries. Furthermore, its "natural" spread rate is also very low. This is made to stop conquering all world with centuary's old religion, making Christianity and Islam unable to have its state.

Perhaps. I'll check next time I play (which is in about five minutes).

That makes sense, but I've literally never been able to spread it anywhere. I even gifted civs Magi in the vain hope that they would do it themselves, but of course, they just garrisoned them in the nearest city.

Ok, I checked and I'm actually one of the few civs with Theocracy enabled. Most civs have pacifism chosen.
