View Full Version : Who should run the 1st term election?
DaveShack Feb 16, 2007, 08:42 AM Simple question, who do you think should run the 1st term election? Subsequent terms can be run by whomever the rules point to at that time.
My opinion held for a bit to see what others think. :)
ravensfire Feb 16, 2007, 09:58 AM Bah - you beat me to it!.
My suggestion is a quick sign-up period (2 days), followed by a single poll (3 days). Most votes wins it.

Bertie Feb 16, 2007, 01:21 PM DaveShack and ravensfire, both of you having been doing a really great job of getting DG2 up and going. I suggest either or both of you deserve to run the first term election, and I nominate both of you.
Running the election of course doesn't prevent either of you from running for office.
Nobody Feb 16, 2007, 01:50 PM Edit: Oh run the elections, not Run for elections. i see the point ummm... who ever we elect creator.....
dutchfire Feb 16, 2007, 02:03 PM [really bad joke]
I think that nobody should run the election.
[/really bad joke]

how about 4 days for the poll as usual? :king:
DaveShack Feb 17, 2007, 10:02 AM We need to choose within the next 3 days. Even a volunteer would be sufficient. :)
dutchfire Feb 17, 2007, 10:03 AM I nominate Ravensfire.
ravensfire Feb 17, 2007, 02:06 PM Unless someone else wants to run 'em, I'll be glad to.

Hyronymus Feb 17, 2007, 02:37 PM Go for it, Ravensfire :).
Nobody Feb 17, 2007, 05:30 PM ravensfire for this thing, daveshack for Creator!
ice2k4 Feb 17, 2007, 08:13 PM No objections to Ravensfire (as I remember his term as censor, the strongest)
DaveShack Feb 17, 2007, 08:21 PM daveshack for Creator!
You might not remember, but I've had horrible luck creating games.
Someone else should do it.

I think the Chieftian should to it.
Baring that.... I'd be honored :D
DaveShack Feb 18, 2007, 11:42 AM The "starting the game act" will fall back on the rules in place at the time for choosing a player, if they are passed then. :)
ravensfire Feb 18, 2007, 07:17 PM So I'm curious - given that this is the first term, limited offices and apparently some excitement, what would you all think about opening nominations early? As in on Monday? It would give us something to talk about during this dead time - we've just about got everything wrapped up.
Thoughts?

ice2k4 Feb 18, 2007, 07:22 PM Wouldn't mind that at all
Octavian X Feb 18, 2007, 09:33 PM Why don't we move the whole election cycle up a few days? You know, to give the new members of the government time to coalesce and plan. We can start the cycle on Monday, and start the term on the first of March as usual.
DaveShack Feb 18, 2007, 10:26 PM That would only be one day early. The complaint, if there were any, would be starting nominations before the offices have been ratified. With a runaway vote, close to 80% in favor, it seems not to be a problem.
ravensfire Feb 19, 2007, 12:25 AM Expect to see the nomination threads going up some time tomorrow morning!

Furius Feb 19, 2007, 02:15 AM Excellent. Ravensfire, you can still run for one of these posts should you so wish, right? Or have you sacrificed that right for these elections?

We don't normally consider the position of running elections as being one of the elected positions that you can only hold one of. It's the same type of thing as the DP pool is, where it doesn't count towards the multiple office limit or term limits, if applicable.
Also, this is term 0 and the elections are for term 1. Different term means it doesn't conflict anyway. :)
