What do we want to call ourselves? Do we want to pick something unrelated to the civs in the game, or wait to see who we are first?

Some of the names we've used in the past have been related to "fanatic" in some way.

good question. It's hard to come up with something original if you want to stick to a reference to CFC. How about a mythical culture of which noone is sure if it ever existed?

How about "Manetherane"? Anyone who has read "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan knows what I'm talking about. Just throwing an idea out there.

I don't think we should immediately exclude the option of using the default name, or a modified default name.

Well, Civ III Demogame 5 the people decided on Japanatican, since we were Japan at the time. So it doesn't have to be completely unrelated to the Civ we're playing.

On another note... if we want the name to be reflected ingame (as we've done in previous demogames) we're gonna need to decide on it BEFORE we make the game. And thus before we know our Civilization.

I suppose it makes sense to name our Civ since everything else will be named, I just hope we don't pick anything to crazy!

Actually, it doesn't matter what our civ name is. As long as it is nothing offensive or abusive, I'm fine with anything. So long as people participate and make the game a success.

I don't think we should name our Civ after one of the citizens. Something sensible and something meaningful would do. Citizen names and abbrevations don't match those criterias for me.

I'd really enjoy having a name that wasn't based on the fanatica tribute. That has become so old and worn out. Something new and creative. Ya know? I mean I don't care if someone pushes for a Capital City name of "Thunder Falls" or something as kissy as that, but the Nation name needs to evolve into something geniune and original.

I say we pay tribute to the mods of the demogame this time around.

Like the Nation Name being Moderatia
And the first two city names being, Chief Fortress and Dave's Shack

I say we start a new thread specificly designed for name ideas.. and I mean nothing but.. we shall nominate names, and second them.. Then after a period of time we should have a poll to decide the name proper..
