I've been playing civ 3 on one of my computers and never had a problem. I just bought civ 4 and the game keeps freezing up on me. Sometimes its right away. Sometimes its 15 to 20 minutes in. I installed the software on my new computer. I get the error message of either the instruction at 0x00a5289e referenced memory at 0x00000000 or The Application failed to initialize properly (oxc000012d) Click ok to terminate. I've been trying to follow a bunch of threads on here but I cant seem to solve the problem. Anyone with advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your computer stats please? Is it a real game (like from EB games or something)?

I bought the game at best buy. I believe its made by Fireaxis or 2K games. My computer has all the required devices to play the game.

It could be a virus/adware/spyware have you checked this out? (When I meant real game I just meant 'is it copied?')
