When I start Civ4 nothing happen

I try to uninstall et reinstall Civ4 no change
I try to install the 1.61 patch no change
I try to update the ATI driver (i have a X800 GTO card) no change

Have you a solution ?

Please someone help, my friend is having the exact same problem. Worked on older versions, this one won't start and no error!

I am also experiencing the same thing:

I just purchased Civ IV, installed the 1.61 patch, tried to run the game, and ... nothing. The loading screen pops up, disappears, and then nothing happens. Does anybody have a solution to this issue? I have searched the forums here for the better part of two hours and have found no solutions to this issue, but a few open threads with the same problem.

I have Windows XP Professional, and meet all other hardware requirements. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. In doing so I realized that the first time I installed I had selected the "make available only to my user" option. When I reinstalled it, I selected the "make available to all users" option. This apparently places the game in a different default directory. After the second install it worked fine. ... don't know if that will solve everybody's problems, but it solved mine.
