Hi
I just got my computer and the only operating system you can buy is Windows Vista. Does anyone know how to play Civ 4 with this operating system?
Please tell me there is a download to make the game run.
Desperate for my next fix!
Thank you

Install as usual, add all the patches, and play on. Been running under Windows Vista for three weeks now and alles in ordnung.
Are you having a particular problem?

I've got the same problem : I am told there is a compatibility problem, I ask Vista to look for a solution on internet and it finaly tells me to contact Firaxis Game to look for a solution.
Anither thing that is strange is that the firste time I launched the game, I saw the introduction and the menu. It bugged when I tryed to launch a game. But now that I have installed the last patch (1.62) it doesn't even launch the intro ...
I'm so depressed ... I wanna play Civ4 !!!!

My bump of intuition tells me this is probably a graphics driver issue.
What does dxdiag report?

Exactly the same problem here. Civ 4 works after install, but only with "Run as Admin" selected. However, after installing 1.61 patch it will not start at all. The "loading" brown window shows, disk spins for a split second, then the window disappears, before showing the usual load progress (XML, etc.). Vista then reports that Civ has stopped working. All takes about 4 seconds from launching it.
I'm attaching report from dxdiag, but it all seems OK. Any help or suggestions gladly accepted. too the time being will have to stick with 1.00 :-(

Further to my previous post, I solved the problem of Civ 4 not starting under Vista by downgrading to patch 1.52. Now it works fine, except for the flicker (bad) of all videos.
Still having to run as Admin and with XPSP2 compatibility turned on.
1.61 definitely crashes - see previous dxdiag.txt if you wonder what I am running, but this is not a DX problem as far as I see.
Thanks for any suggestions.
