View Full Version : Term 1 Election Poll - Elder
Chieftess Feb 25, 2007, 08:16 AM I'm reposting this as a moderator, not as a candidate. The previous poll left out one candidate.
Please vote for the person you feel would make the best Elder for this term.
Candidates:
dutchfire
Chieftess
Joe Harker
TheAmerican
Shattered
robboo
The candidate with the most votes at the conclusion of the poll will be the Elder of our first city for Term 1. In the event of a tie, a run-off poll listing all tied candidates will be conducted. This will continue until we have a winner.
Poll options:
-- Private
-- 3 days duration
-- Single choice

ravensfire Feb 25, 2007, 10:18 AM Having just noticed this, I would like to extend my apologies to robboo, and all citizens for the delay this will cause.
Sorry folks - I have robboo in the tracker thread, and completely missed him in the poll.

Hyronymus Feb 25, 2007, 10:34 AM Who's Abstain :D?!
Chieftess Feb 25, 2007, 10:59 AM Who's Abstain :D?!
He's a mysterious fellow - stuff of Demogame Lore. Some say he's Communist, too.

He doesn't seem popular though, hasn't got a vote yet in this poll.
robboo Feb 25, 2007, 12:49 PM Thanks for this Chieftess. No problem Ravensfire.
Isnt there an old law that says if left off the first poll...your votes count double on the second one?
/joking

/jokingI think I read about a by-law somewhere with something of that sort, but, if I remember correctly your votes get halved.
AljayBoy Feb 25, 2007, 04:56 PM Who's Abstain? lol!
Joe Harker Feb 25, 2007, 08:55 PM  i had two votes on the other one. oh well!
TheAmerican Feb 26, 2007, 12:14 AM Maybe the voters would like to post WHY they voted for a candidate ?

Noone is keeping citizens from doing it! Appearently noone had the urge to explain their voting yet.

Some posters do have the right not to tell who they voted for ;).
DaveShack Feb 26, 2007, 05:33 PM None of the losing candidates should be discouraged by this result. You're facing a DG veteran who is coming off a fairly long hiatus, combined with a lot of new candidates splitting the vote. We'll probably have two Elder appointments and perhaps create a department or two this term, so staying active is important. :)
Shattered Feb 26, 2007, 08:26 PM I'm not in the least bit worried about these results. All I see is that I need to work harder and try to have more of an impact on this game. :D

I knew I'd lose as soon as Chieftess accepted her nomination, but I'm pretty close in votes actually, only a few less, so I'm pretty happy with the current result.
fed1943 Feb 27, 2007, 11:11 AM I have no reason to hide my vote. If someone wants I'll speak about after the
poll is closed.
Private voting,isn't it?
Best regards,
Joe Harker Feb 27, 2007, 01:07 PM Come on someone vote for me, even if it is out of pity. Please! :aargh:
Well done though to the other candiates!:D

I will stay active, and i will keep writing on threads thanks for the encouragment!:)
robboo Feb 28, 2007, 09:32 AM Congrats Chieftess.
I figured Dutch and you would be the front runners. I never thought I would run third. I figured based on some comments that those of us not actively creating the rule-set would be on the outside for a few turns. Congrats to the winners and I hope no one gets discouraged by the results. Keep posting and making your opinion known. The first demo game started dying when all we had was officials and not citizens.
dutchfire Feb 28, 2007, 09:32 AM Congrats Chieftess,
Say, are you looking for a deputy? :p
@Robboo: I think it were mainly people from the lfirst game who voted for you.
robboo Feb 28, 2007, 09:38 AM yep probably...not that I did much of a great job. But I did stick it out till the end.
Joe Harker Feb 28, 2007, 09:41 AM Well done everyone you all proberly got more experience than me, especially Chieftess :)
ravensfire Feb 28, 2007, 09:53 AM Congratulations to Chieftess, winner of the Term 1 office of Elder of our first city!

Joe Harker Feb 28, 2007, 09:58 AM Can people PM me why they didn't vote for me then I will know what I need to do for the next election cycle to stand the best possible chance thanks :goodjob:
Chieftess Feb 28, 2007, 04:15 PM Congrats Chieftess,

Sure! You're on the team! :)
ravensfire Feb 28, 2007, 04:20 PM Can people PM me why they didn't vote for me then I will know what I need to do for the next election cycle to stand the best possible chance thanks :goodjob:
(NOTE - not at Joe Harker, but all new citizens running for any election this term)
Honestly, my biggest reason was simply that I don't know you that well.
The first term is really, really tough for a new player to get elected. We don't know your style, your views, your skills, etc. All of that comes out as your participate.
Be active in discussions! Have fun while you're doing it!
-- Ravensfire
ice2k4 Feb 28, 2007, 06:37 PM I'm going to have to say the same. I'd like all the new players to experience what the demogame is like first-hand before we elect them. They just haven't experienced enough to know proper etiquette and the works.
Shattered Feb 28, 2007, 11:31 PM This loss doesn't discourage me a bit. I'm just going to have to work harder to earn peoples trust. ;)
