View Full Version : One last minute thing...

Something I've noticed that has suprised me; there has been absolutely NO discussion on the option of random personalities. I know its too late to poll this but if I can get a mass concensus from the forum than maybe the chieftan will see it our way, and implement it as a last minute option. Having the standard pre-defined personalities takes away from gameplay. It not only sets guidelines on how we treat a civ, but it takes away from the suprise of meeting a new civilization. Who wants to know how a civ is gonna act before/if we meet them? Certainly not me. I don't believe that we need a foreign policy if we don't enable this option. The civ veterans will know exactly how to deal with each civ we come across. That is why I am advocating the random personalities option. Not only will it make things more random, (gandi the world conquering socio-path :D) but it will allow the foreign policy to actually have a use. We won't know how to take each civ that we encounter, therefor, strict observation and planning will be put into use to determine whether to deal with them in certain areas or not. (open borders, resource trade, tech trade, etc) I think it will make the game more fun to not know what to do to ensure success based on prior knowledge. We shouldn't have such existing knowledge affect gameplay, and thats why random personalities should be implemented.

:hmm: That does sound interesting. I don't believe I've ever played with random personalities on. I wouldn't mind it either way. It sounds like it would fit good for the Demogame.

You realize the save is going to be made in less than 24 hours, so you'll need to push this quickly if you wish to implement it. In case it comes up, mark me down as someone who is willing to give it a shot.

Unless we get quite a few more posts in this poll advocating random personalities, I rather not delay creation day. The reason being if it hasn't been brought up yet by any citizens, I don't think the majority of the citizens want it. I won't be home all day tomorrow, and I'll check back on this thread in about 3 or so hours, so I'll make a decision then.

I like the random personality option and think that this would cause the game to go more interestingly.

I support the random personality option. It'll make our game more dynamic.

This does have merit...BUT only if there is no delay. Otherwise I would vote no lets play.

I don't think less then a day of polling is sufficient time, and I'm seeing only limited support for this so far.

I support asking the question, and would not object if there were a lot of people who want it, but it doesn't seem to have the kind of overwhelming support that would allow its use on the merit of the discussion alone. That could change by tomorrow, but probably not.

It's a missed chance, you can only poll this if you delay the creation turn. You're bound to upset people if you decide to approve of this. Besides, the consitution requires polls to last at least 2 days.

Its too late now, this should have been addressed earlier.

This does sound like a very good idea...

It's a shame if the officials feel it wont make it

I agree, it's way too late to implement this now.
And anyways, this whole thing is complex enough as it is. Maybe when some more of us citizens get some experience in how DG works future game could have mor variables.
