This is the definition I'm using...

se·er
A person endowed with profound moral and spiritual insight or knowledge; a wise person or sage who possesses intuitive powers.

Welcome my fellow citizens. I stand before you today in hopes that others of like mindedness would join me as seers of this great realm. It is my intention that the ideas we will discuss will help further advance the knowledge of our great empire. The problem I see, though, is that the knowledge our people gain will not be focused for a goal, but instead be learned haphazardly with no rhyme nor reason for this understanding. I hope that we, as seers to this great realm, can help focus our realm on specific goals so that we, the empire, can rise above those around us. That others will look at our empire with awe for our knowledge and wisdom. It is my desire, my fellow citizens, to help our empire reach that goal.

<pauses while glancing over those gathered around>

I will not lie to you my fellow citizens, as many will look upon our actions as wizardly, or those favored by demons. This is not true. What we will be doing is looking into the future, seeking to further advance our great empire in ways that many would hold as unimagineable or mere dreams of children. We will look at these ways and we will get there! <raises fist in the air for emphasis>

OOC: Note, this committee will not attempt to figure out the best tech to research next, but instead will look at what the goal is technology wise and what we need to research to get there. Example: We decide we want Keshiks, so we would discuss/debate the best route to get them, as in what techs we needed, what order, etc.

Note: All discussion threads pertaining to this committee will start with SEER. As an example...

SEER: Thread Name

Please state if you wish to be a part of this committee.

What's the difference between a citizen and the members of this committee? Are you restricting comments to just this group or are you trying to find people to do some extra work in a specialized area?

Consider the committee meetings like a RL town council meeting. You have your regular committee members and than you have the non-member citizens who occaisionally come in and take part in the discussions.

In other words, you don't have to be a member to participate in the discussions. That's entirely up to you.

Perfect description of a committee. Members don't necessarily have to participate either, we're just identifying our interest in the topic.

I would like to join. :)

Like Methos and DaveShack said, and the goal is 2nd option from erik #try to

find people to do some extra work in a specialized area".

One thing I'd like to point out, is anyone whether a member or not, can bring up a discussion using the SEER: tags in the thread. You don't have to be a member and I do not consider myself the leader. We're seer's, we all have the potentional to glimpse the beyond.

I'd like citizens to post using the SEER tags so that we know its a discussion on scientific goals that we have. It's a way to keep an idea of what type of thread it is.

Again, let me reiterate, I do not consider myself the leader of this committee, just the one who started it. I also have no problem with a non-member creating a thread using the SEER tags.

sign me on.

it seems that the groups are currently split into 4 ideas, research, military, culture, and economy (not currently filled).

Most likely, the groups will further split into smaller groups or combine (most likely as small groups).

I plan on staying with the research ideas at least until later times, or a world war.
