After uninstalling the ATI control panel, Civ IV no longer works on my Mac! The error I get is: "Initialize Renderer Failed." Has anybody else come across this? I was going to play the game with some buddies at 2:00, and now I can't even run it.

My computer is a dual 1.8 ghz G5, 1.25 GB RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro, dual-monitors.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Trying to attach the error to this post but I don't think it's working...

I should also mention that I've tried:

Reinstalling Civ IV - no good
Deleting Civ IV "Application Support" folder - no good
Deleting Civ IV Preferences - no good
Deleting Civ folder in Documents - no good
Doing all of the above at the same time - no good.

What's the ATI control panel, why did you uninstall it, and is it possible to reinstall it? Since that was the start of your problems it seems logical to try to reverse that step.

It was part of the ancient 2005 ATI Radeon drivers for OS X that I installed hoping it would speed up the game a bit. It didn't, so I removed it.

Anyway, I've just given up. It just doesn't work.
