surrounded by a large millitary force, Premier Captainov and his deputy Iosif Stalin work their way to the stage where a speech has been planned, Stalin sits down next to the stage while Captainov makes his speech to the people

"Greetings Comrades! today we stand at a turning point for our great country! all major combat operations within Poland have ended!"

he stands back and allows the cheering crowd to voice their pleasure at the announcement, he soon returns to the microphone

"we have finally gotten the Soviet Union to the status it deserves, no longer will we be looked down upon as the third rate power the Tzar proved us to be in the last war...

earlier this month Warsaw fell extremely quickly to the Soviet Liberation forces, followed quickly behind by Danzig, we are now at the German border comrades!

however we are not finished with Poland, it appears Hitler has further proven his agression agianst the communist ideal when he broke our non agression pact, he has yet to declare war but i ask why we must wait for the fascist invaders to make the decisions.... today we plant our flag in poland, tomorrow, Berlin..."

with that he spun on his heels and marched off the stage, leaving Stalin to deliver his speech, although to a smaller crowd, the majority being content with hearing the Premier

I suggest some drastic changes to the glorious Red Army.

1. Disband most of it (cause we know its awful)
2. Keep the modern ones tough
3. Build factories all over the Soviet Union
4. When the factories can build newer weapons, train and equip countless divisions!
5. Destination: Berlin!

Given that he's already invaded Poland, an attack by Germany/Allied powers may not be far off. Keeping the army may be the best idea, though I agree he should build modern forces as soon as possible.

Commander Princescamp stood up before the Soviet Generals and explained the current situation in the new war agianst Fascism, since he was airforce commander this was rather odd, but it also made sense since he was the closest thing to a specialist on this issue

he pointed to a current map of Soviet expansion, there was good news and bad news

The Good News was that Germany was in pain, Soviet Gains had been made so quickly that Hitler couldnt react in time to save Berlin from Soviet control

however, around Leipzig Germany had finally made a defensive stand and the Soviet advance had been halted

The Bad News was that Romania had joined Germany in trying to repel the soviets, making the most gains out of both, however Soviet troops were close enough to fight the Romanians into their own country, but have not advanced into Romania itself

The Political Climate soon swung in Germany's favour, Romania joined the axis, however soon Bulgaria, Greece, Yugoslavia and Hungary also declared war upon the Soviet Union, but never allied each other, causing their respective millitaries to stay in their own countries and wait for the Red army to come to them

Who the heck are Tanu Tuva? We should try to get Turkey on our side. Italy will probably join with Germany. France and Britain, however?

Tanu Tuva is a single province, between the Soviet Union and Mongolia, that happens to be independent

Turkey appears to support the Germans, since it cancelled our Non Agression pact, but since its Isolationist it refuses to actually go to war

Italy is anyones guess, if Germany can be destroyed without Italian intervention we can expect to destroy italy by itself, since i doubt france or Britian would accept it

You'll probably find it likely that Britain or France will declare war on you as your belligerence increases. You're actually quite likely to see all western powers wage war on you, though China and Japan may keep out of it all.

Good to see Berlin has fallen - now take the rest of Germany and Bessarabia from Romania! And the rest of Romania too, while you're there ;)

Things have gone well for the Soviet Forces, the Romanians had made a breakthrough and made it into the USSR, however a force that had been created to keep down the polish rebels was able to fill the gap in the line and push them back once agian

finally the German defensive line gave way when Soviet Reinforcements arrived to push past Leipzig, after the initial push it was found by General Nodikus that the Nazis had not thought far enough to have any defenses past the initial defense, within a month of the breakthrough, Hitler was reduced to commanding his forces from one province on the french border

The war has begun, in order to shorten supply lines war was declared upon the Czechoslovakian government, Britian and France declared war upon the USSR, the rest will impact the future of the planet

in two weeks Czechslovakia had fallen to General Nodikus leading German troops and been replaced with a puppet government, in a month the french maginot line had fallen to the combined forces of the DDR and the Soviet Union under the Command of Kan, with Hungary and Poland guarding the rear, the World Socialist Alliance had the allies reeling

The War in the sky was going well also, British lancaster bombers over Germany were shot down by the newly developed Soviet MiG's, while France was hammered with V1 rockets, Prince has been awarded the order of Captainov, his support of the airforce making this victory possible

Premier Captainov has also given command of the french invasion forces to Nodkius, General Kan has been given control over the invasion of the British Isles

I can't remember the exact lines, but Churchill did mention - in his own memoirs of the Second World War - that it was exceptionally fortunate that they had the English Channel as a defence line in 1940. If not, Britain would easily have fallen to Germany.

That's just my annoyance in people writing of the French in stereotypical fashion though, in HoI they should be fairly simple to conquer :)

Actually, if you look back a few centuries you'll find that France surrenders quite a bit. I'm not saying they don't fight, its just that they don't seem to have much luck when it comes to war.

fighting in northern england has wielded good news and bad news, The Soviet troops under Kan's leadership have taken almost all of Scotland, the bad news is that the tip is still owned by the UK and since Canada has sent the majority of its millitary there, it has become extremely hard to budge

as a result, Soviet Troops are forced to entrench until the leadership can find a way to kick out the Brits

Yeah, they'll do that. In one German game it was the American's who sent several dozen units there. They were all destroyed in the end :evil:

The war in Britain has changed, The British people have proven to Premier Captainov that this will not be as easy as france was...

Thanks to Canadian forces in Scotland refusing to fall to the Red onslaught, The UK was able to gather a defensive force of enough strength that an offense could not break its lines, reinforcement became impossible due to a highly alerted Royal Navy cutting off supply lines, The orders finally arrived ordering General Kan to pull his forces back to occupied france, Scotland was abandoned to the Canadian and British armies

KGB Facts on Canada:

-Canadians share 84% of their DNA with Humans
-There are over four different species of Canadian
-Canadians live off small animals
-Canada is the second largest threat to the Soviet Union, after Britain

oddly enough, our MiGs are being beaten by the French aircraft...

I only find Paratroopers good for diversions or taking islands. In my current British game I dropped some paras behind the lines in Italy, then launched a proper assault further south and linked up. Also dropped a couple of divisions in Crete to prevent Greece from being annexed - much faster than using my transports.

Haven't really experimented enough with them enough though.

Ooh yes, I remember that. Though to be fair that was my first time actually using paras, based on a last-minute suggestion. They can be effective if used right.

You need transport planes - one for each unit. They are expensive, but if you control the skies then you'll only need to build one batch (I have four for my British game). If you do try it, remember that in order to do an assault mission the troops and the planes must be at their maximum organisation, or the mission won't show. Transport planes can also be used to drop supplies to sieged regions behind the lines.

Failure depends on what's happening elsewhere. You're essentially forcing them into a sieged province, so if they fail they will be wiped out. If you launch an attack with other units to take a neighbouring province and they win, then the paras will have a province to withdraw to.

Essentially though, they're just handy for small operations to distract, or to take islands when using transport ships and marines isn't an option. Other than that they're just normal infantry.

Scandanavia is never going to be a threat - all we need is some border divisions and we're quite capable of holding any front there.

Italy and Spain are the only real powers in Europe anymore. As such, they should be first priority. Shift units to Italy and invade - it's a simple thin peninsula, and Austria is on the way there. End the threat, and create the Italian Socialist Republic!

If we're already in a position to take the Scandinavian countries, there's no need to disrupt those plans. You can liberate Scandinavia as a nation, by the way, once annexed. They make a decent puppet state :)

After that, I think it will be time to either invade Italy, or achieve the long-held Russian dream of taking India from Britain. A swift strike through Persia/Iraq will open up both India and the Middle-East, also allowing an attack into Africa against British/Italian colonies.

I don't remember if you mentioned it, but did you pick to purge the generals in '38? I started a game as the Soviets on the hardest settings, and didn't purge (I don't want to risk losing Zhukov and Chuikov :cry: ). Not good for an industry already crippled by the difficulty modifiers. My armies of the west are nowhere near ready.

Should make for a good Barbarossa though, haven't had one in ages :D

The Premier sat at his desk with his head in his hands, after the support of the council moved towards a war with Italy, the Soviet foreign ministers handed Mussolini a declaration of war

however since the USSR hadnt moved its millitary into position the war turned in the favour of Italy and Austria, Italy moving into france and Austria expanding into Yugoslavia

by the end of the 1940's the war had gone horribly, the Soviet Union had lost its navy to the British remains, trapping the majority of the Soviet millitary in Canada

finally, Italy had taken france and began moving into Germany, Austria had taken Yugoslavia, Greece, Albania and Bulgaria, finally being stopped at the Romanian border

The Premier reacted the only way he could imagine, he called up the commander of the Airforce and made a request

"Comrade, the time has come, launch our nuclear weapons at the pre-determined targets"

Glasgow, Scotland

Kan looked out the window of the new Soviet buildings, the British bombardment from Ireland still occuring, however that was nothing new, since scotlands founding Britain had still owned northern Ireland

Kan began reading his paper, the headline was "Glorious Premier orders offensive into Paris" suddenly he heard the air raid siren, putting down his paper looking out the window when a bright light hit the Soviet building, Kan was instantly blinded, the next thing he heard was the shattering of glass....

Nodikus sat under a tree, finishing his third Pina Colada of the day, when suddenly he made a horrifying discovery, he had forgotten his sunblock!

You don't need to use pictures of actual events - just make sure they look plausible enough to pass off in the story. Hell, some of the pictures in my WW1 story are from Second World War photographs, simply as they're vague enough to be used :)

Timeline for the future of the Soviet Union

January 4th 1947-Vancouver Island is nuked, destroying the last remains of the Allied millitary

January 16 1947- General Subi dies from an unknown sickness after leading troops into vancouver Island

January 20 1947- The Allies surrender to the world Socialist Alliance

March 30 1948- General Nodikus dies from a Cuban bullet, believed to be CIA backed, the WSA imposes sanctions on the USA

December 20 1953- Premier Captainov dies from a stroke, succeeded by Princescamp

December 21 1953- Premier Princescamp purges Ironman, making him a non person

November 3rd 1974- Britain tries to leave the WSA, is invaded by Scotland with backing from the USSR

November 5th 1974- Kan killed when British shell hits his house in Glasgow, the tide of the war turns and England becomes a colony of Scotland

June 9 1970- Premier Princescamp dies of old age, succeded by Kosygin

Feb 6th 1979- France leaves the WSA successfully

January 1 1980- Polish government overthrown, USSR declares marital law and reinstalls communist government

October 31 1987- American unemployment hits all time high

July 4th 1989- Canada buys Alaska from the USA for 4 Million Canadian, helping a struggling US economy

Feb 6 1990- American government falls, appeals are made to the USSR to send aid
