View Full Version : Idea: Barb City in London
Edungeon Mar 04, 2007, 07:50 PM Just a suggestion:
Make a Barb/Independent city spawn in the place of London in the beginning of the Game. For a Mod that the Realism plays and Important Role have the Stone Henge in Babylon is just strage... the wonder doesn't have any chance to be in its right place!
But something like that: if nobody makes StoneHenge by a certain date, the wonder is make in the place of London.
Just my 2 cents :) ( ow, the first time i use this expression :crazyeye: )
botur2young Mar 04, 2007, 08:51 PM That would create problems with the location of England's spawn, wouldn't it?
biggamer132 Mar 04, 2007, 09:13 PM That would create problems with the location of England's spawn, wouldn't it?
That's true. The English would end up spawing somewhere around Manchester and making that their capital, both of which would be inaccurate.
Whitefire Mar 04, 2007, 09:34 PM Have the city flip, then spawn the units.
Edungeon Mar 04, 2007, 09:42 PM Yes, just like what happens with a normal civ.
Whitefire Mar 04, 2007, 09:44 PM Yes, just like what happens with a normal city.
Actually, the Civ has units spawn, then the cities flip. You'd have to reverse it for this.
Edungeon Mar 04, 2007, 09:56 PM hmmm, yeah ^^" my mistake.
The only problem of this is that will make the formation of the Western Roman Impire Easier. But you can avoid it just now spawing a Gaul City.
Question: If Rome does not take all the gaul cities, when France spaws the place is overcrowned? or Rome always take the Gaul cities? =P
NitroJay Mar 05, 2007, 09:09 AM I think an easier solution is to remove Stonehenge as a wonder. I mean, I don't see the current stonehenge power as something I'd really miss THAT much anyway... OR Maybe change Stonehenge to something like The Hagia Sophia or The Sphinx... Something that is more likely to be built before the European civs spawn...
Someone mentioned on another thread about having Christianity have two holy cities to represent the Jerusalem Church of the Nativity and the Vatican in Rome... Maybe Stonehenge could help out with that somehow... I mean, it's current power allows for ALL the religious civics anyway... I'm sure the NAME of the wonder could be changed to represent something more likely to be built in the middle east/Egypt...
I do agree though that having Stonehenge in the middle east or Egypt (or sometimes India) in every game is a little weird. Rather than make a ultra cultured barbarian city in England, I think getting rid of Stonehenge all together, or replacing it with something else, is a much easier solution.
LuKo Mar 05, 2007, 09:13 AM I think that there should be a city in England (Paris is settled before France spawn...) or Stonehenge should be renamed to The Sphinx (but then probably it should be in Egyptian UHV and their UHV will be harder).
werttrew Mar 05, 2007, 09:42 AM I'd chime in with the idea of replacing Stonehenge with something else, but GP points early on are nice if you're trying to pump out Great Prophets.
So, I'd suggest something that can come out early but is identifiable with one of the four main starting civs.
My suggestions:
The Terracotta Army (chinese)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terracotta_Army
The Sphinx (Egypt)
The Lothal Dock (India)

kairob Mar 05, 2007, 10:31 AM what is the advantage of stone henge?
Edungeon Mar 05, 2007, 10:40 AM Taking out Stonehenge is good.
Idea:
Reduce the hammers for Pyramids and put the Sphinx, I have the graphics for it, and is very cool.
The Sphinx was build before or after the Pyramids?
NitroJay Mar 05, 2007, 11:55 AM Ooh... I like Terracotta Army! Maybe then, Babylon could build the Hanging Garden and China can have the Army... Hmmm...
Edungeon Mar 05, 2007, 12:29 PM I think that Terracotta Army is too new, it is about 200BC =P. But it can have the effect of choosing any of the Expasion Cicivs :)
Mercenary82 Mar 05, 2007, 12:56 PM Maybe a Babylonian wonder would be good to replace Stonehenge with since they build it anyway, then Hanging Gardens could be replaced by a Chinese wonder like Terracotta Army.
SkippyT Mar 05, 2007, 01:25 PM Hammurabi's Code of Laws!
Free library in every city?
Maybe too late..I don't know.
The Ishtar Gate?
Available with Mysticism, free monument in every city?
Gunner Mar 05, 2007, 02:21 PM The Stonehenge is pretty important for getting religious GPP early on. If you replaced it it would be nice to still fill that role.
Edungeon Mar 05, 2007, 03:59 PM Yeah, i believe that the Wonder that replaces it will just change the effect ( but stay with the same concept ) like: all Governament Civics, all Cultural Civics, etc.
Mercenary82 Mar 05, 2007, 08:41 PM Yeah leave the same effects, but call it something Babylonian, Ziggurat of Marduk sound good?
